Best Traffic Sources! Please post yours...

Hey,
I was wondering what you use to drive traffic to your website.

Post your best traffic source(s), free or otherwise. Please specify if it is free or paid.

I am really looking for good traffic sources for myself (I am in the internet marketing niche aimed at beginners). But don't let that stop you if you have a great traffic strategy for another niche!

Thanks for your time and input,
James

Stumbleupon and guest posting. They bring in a ton of traffic.

Is Stumbleupon affiliated with Facebook at all?

  • Generic, Generic, Generic ...

I rely on Google generated traffic that I drive through on-page SEO on my sites, and article directories.

Does fine by me, and is 100% free.

And with Google cracking down on crappy web sites and articles, I have seen my positions and traffic, as well as sales, improve by providing quality content.

Seo is the best traffic source..PPC programs is another i would reccomend..Article marketing, Guest posting, commenting on other blogs related to your niche, social boookmarking, creating a facebook page for your website add fans to it and update contents of your facebook page when your blog also updates i think there are certain applications that allows users to update facebook pages when there blog also get updated..Another free traffic source i would reccomend is forum marketing, stay active on forums like these and always use a signature of your website..Create twitter followers related to your niche and tweet when your blog gets updated...

I agree that SEO is best, but in rare cases you can survive without it. I have done little to no SEO on a site that is far from finished, that has very little content, very few backlinks and I'm still ranked very highly for my keywords. I would say free advertising is the best. I recently received an invite on FB to attend " The Zombie Apocalypse" which I will admit I'm attending lol. The guy who created the page started out by sending the invite to less than 500 people and last time I checked it had circulated to over 1.7 million. The cool thing about it is, it was a free page. Too bad the guy had no real plan for the event, because that very well could have been a goldmine.

2leep.com. I used to get 3-4000 hits a day for my humor site(which i sold at a loss, no way to monetize appropriately and i was a newb) which had over 100,000 hits a month. sadly i didnt know what i was doing and lost money on the site, sold it for $3k.

Garbage traffic is just that, I do not belive you.

If it is not targeted traffic, you wont make money.

The easiest way to get more traffic and more sales, is go to the locations where you your most clearly defined customers hang out. Forums, high traffic blogs, communities, members section, disscussion groups, workshops, conventions, expos, small meetings.

Go there and put your messages infront of these people. Not only will this bring you high quality traffic, but more sales.

We have increase our sales seven fold from doing this. You will be amazed with the results when you think a little out of teh box too.

Just go to where your customers is most likely hanging out online, or offline, and if you have a great offer, the sales will come flying in. :-)

Article marketing does the job for me and quite a lot of fellows here. Forum replies are also useful not only for the instant relevant traffic in most of the cases, but for the do-follow link juice also. Manual guest posting has recently worked quite well to. Pick one or two and that might very likely be more then enough for most niches if you do it consistently.

The "best" traffic source comes from your own personal list of people who know you, like you, and trust you.

      That's the point Mike.

      Little addition......

The "best converting" traffic source comes from your own personal list of people who know you, like you, and trust you.

Because you need initial traffic to create a list.

Most of my traffic comes from Google, followed by links from relevant popular blogs who were kind enough to include my site in posts.

I have had success with niche forum posting, high pr blog commenting, and good old fashioned SEO. The highest converting have come from targeted forums, but the highest general volume usually comes from organic sources.

For me our big 'G' - Google is one first place, then twitter, few from EZA and other article directories and facebook.

Yahoo and Bing too give me traffic but comparatively very low.

I would say "Google Organic". i still remember when i first started my forum almost a year back i used to pay for PPC ads but nothing worked like Google. its free and targeted traffic with some "real" visitors not bots.

Wow! I honestly was not expecting this much of a response. You guys are awesome. I really appreciate all of your input. It really sounds like sometimes what works for one site may not work for another. Then again, there are strategies that work no matter the niche.

As for specific traffic sources that were mentioned, SEO would probably be great for someone in a smaller niche.

With forum marketing, I thoroughly enjoy participating on this forum. Even though I'm kinda new to it, I am finding it to be a great place to learn. And I can see how it can be used to drive traffic to a website.

I've heard about getting traffic from Facebook. From what I understand, it can be a great traffic source when done right.

Classified online ads. I've heard of this. I have yet to try it, but it sounds pretty good considering you can post for free.

Thank you again. You all have been fantastic! Please, continue to post more of your favorite traffic sources.

      James

Search traffic is great if you are properly set up with buyer keywords and relevant content.
Facebook and StumbleUpon are great sources, too. Both 'free' marketing options and paid advertising.
That's only the tip of Iceberg tho.
