How to test drive a niche market before create online store?

Hi all warrior,

How do all the guru test a niche whether it works or not and make money before developing a web site / online store for that niche?

Let say you stumble a niche on 'Selling Poodle Cloths'. You have done some research and you found it not so saturated and also you got product to sell.
Before you create an online store to sell those poodle cloths, how do you test drive the niche and see some result?

Spend some money on adwords. See the clicks that you get. That should give you a rough idea. Talking to the other similar business owners would help

Yes, I agree use Adwords to generate some traffic. You don't even need your own website, just erect a Squidoo lens for example on Poodle clothes. You can include a buy button if you want even for a competitor product. The key is to get some experience with the traffic and the market.

Have you read Tim Ferriss' 4 Hour Workweek? He talks about driving Google AdWords traffic to a "fake" offer (in a nice way). I recommend the book for many reasons, but that part specifically should help a lot.

There's a free PPC method to implement your tests. Search for recent Facebook ad coupon codes. Most of these free FB ad credits work for new FB accounts, so you can create new FB accounts and use these credits...

Make sure to include attention-grabbing titles, images and enticing descriptions in your FB ads. Also properly select the right details for your ad targeting options...

I know it probably looks silly. But you can actually build a list before developing a product. And whats better is that by performing a survey to your list, you know that you stand a very good chance of making money before you even invest a cent.

I dont know how many times I would spend thousands of dollars developing products, only to see them flop.

This method can literally save you a lot of wasted money.

Need to be super fast to 'test drive' more than niches.
I think the fastest is still Google Adword + squidoo lens.

I try msn adscenter/bing but very little traffic.
Does anyone know the secret of getting load of traffic with Bing adscenter? Thanks.

I want to see the volume of traffic come in to the lens. If enough volume and less bounce rate, even

though customers not yet buy, i can already setup a sites.

hi, you could use google adwords as other warriors have discussed and add a buy page for your "product" and then see how many people actually buy it.

When they buy it, the landing page shows that it is not available yet and they will be put on back order.

In this way u find out who really wanted to buy your product and also creates a list of people who are ready to buy once u have your site up.

PPC is the fastest way to test drive a niche/market. Your other option is to test keywords through SEO and free blog platforms..
