WordPress Blog within static site

So as I'm reading more and more into this IM malarkey it seems apparent that we need to be constantly adding content to update our websites to make Google love them.

I have set up, or am in the process of making a static site on my niche with around 4 pages each targeting certain keywords, all interlinked within the niche.

I'm thinking that a way to add content would be to have a blog page. Is this a good idea to put a wordpress blog on mywebsite. com/blog?

The thing is, writing a blog is all well and good and it means more content to the site, but then where do I write articles for back links? Unless I do like 1 article to go elsewhere online for every 3 I put onto my blog, something like that will generate content within my site, and articles to external sites with backlinks to my pages. Also how effective are internal links within my blog posts pointing to my static pages?

Some people might say I should have created the whole site out of WordPress but I wasn't intending on updating it constantly and I'm just as efficient setting up static HTML sites.

Well any pointers here would be handy.

Thanks guys.

Either way would work alright for you. as long as it's constantly updated with unique content, using quality researched keywords, you'll be fine.

Yes, you can install WordPress blog on your site
at MySite.com/Blog. What I will advise though is
that you make sure you post every article you write
to your blog first. When it is indexed by the Big G, you
can now post to your favorite article directory for backlinks.

Also, make your anchor text links from article directories
point to your home page (which I assume is your MySite.com)
and your blog at MySite.com/Blog. However, don't forget to
use your target keyword phrase for the anchor text.

I agree with wealthydon. You have to prioritize first your blog by posting articles before anything else.

So you advise submitting the same article elsewhere as well as the blog (after it has been indexed by Google)? Surely this then eliminates the "unique" content aspect of the blog if it will be dished out elsewhere on the net as well. I know about anchor text linking back to the main site and blog, thanks.

It is always good to have all unique articles posted.
But when you don't have the time, you can submit
articles posted on your blog to article directories.

There's nothing wrong with that at all.

Uniqueness is one side of the game while syndicating
    your articles is another.
