Can someone tell me how manage comments on my blog so only a few
show on my home page and not hundreds, please?

If you are using wordpress, there is an option in one of the settings screens to limit the amount of comments that show... or if they show at all on the home page.

Yes I am using WordPress, forgot to mention that.

Do you know what that option is, as I have been looking and not finding anything to allow me to do that

Under Settings->Discussion

There is an option that reads something like:
Break comments into pages with X top level comments per page and the [First or Last] page displayed by default

Make sure it's checked, and you have a number where X is that represents the number of blog comments you want to see at a time... the Last / First is if you want to see the most recent comments first, or the oldest ones first.
