Thread Closed A friend is going to shut down a site that to me has a lot of untapped potential on the other hand if he sells it he wants a crazy price tag even though it currently makes virtually $0 and I have opinions why that is the case. The way it is set up currently would need to be changed to an affiliate model rather than fulfilling orders myself if I was to take it over, I already have a great affiliate relationship with a company in the niche. It would need a little facelift too.

The value I find is in the current footprint that the site has on the net. It is indexed and mentioned substantially but I am not sure if it actually has much traffic coming in from these listings or if they really represent links. I get a count from back link checkers of 44 for MSN and 52 in Yahoo. He isn't very web savvy and doesn't have convenient access to stats as the site was originally a hosted solution for a specific industry and frankly he is a little blase about the whole thing. On the other hand he wants/needs something to help build his daughters college fund over the next six years.

So I need a little advice. If anyone could take a quick look at the site I would PM you the web address. Just give me your opinion if I am wasting time on buying this or trying to help him turn it around...

  You can't reply to PMs until you hit 50 posts Butterfly.
  
  Yes he used Adwords but I do not believe he fine tuned his keywords, phrases. And his mindset was not properly grounded. To most of us if we spent $10 on Adwords and got say $12 back in profit that is deemed successful and something to build on, with him was just looked like "not enough profit".
