Default Search Engine Pages

Hi,

Just a quick one. Does anybody out there have any reliable info/data on what % of people look past page 2 of a Search Engine.

Is it worth doing SEO if you only get between pages 5 and 10?

Does anybody ever look at them?

Or is it a case of pages 1 and 2 or nothing?!

Thanks

Not sure about the percentage of people that look past page 2 of results, but I for one quite often do!

I found this web page with some stats on which I think is based on visitors to their own site:

Google refers over 95 percent of Search Engine Traffic | Dipping into the Blogpond

Thanks a lot that's really useful.

The reality is for SEO purposes you need to be on page 1 or 2 (imo)

yea they surely look at the second page results lol. Infact it's kinda wicked but I sometimes get visitors from page 30 LOL. Few days ago there is one that came to one of my sites from page 37!!! LOL.
Conclusion: A lot of people look at many pages of google just to get to the info they are trying to find.

I also have a self development blog project - happyfreaky.com but it's still under development.

I do go until 10 - 20 pages. If I don't find anything I change the keyword a bit and will do search again.

I am rather lazy but I do go deep if it seems necessary.

Also - IF your site is at like Page5 (which is a pretty good achievment) - then all the stronger reason to put in the extra effort to push it up further!

Remember, a lot of people (including me) have my preferences set to show the Top 100 results per search. This means if a page ranks anywhere in the first 100 results, it's on my "first page".
