What to do when your site/server goes down?

Hey Warriors!

What do you do if you site/server goes down? I've read people have the whole site cache'd and other have a whole backup of the site at a different host?

How can I do this? Do you just copy your files to a different host and change the nameservers to point at the other host if it goes down?

    That sounds about right.

If you are using Cpanel then there is a backup feature that can be used to upload a whole website... though some hosting companies will not let users do that by themselves and it needs to be done by opening a ticket

well if you are on wordpress then there are many wordpress plugins which automatically backup for you . Wp DB manager is one of them.

but i prefer manually backup . I do it everyday . For site files i archive all files and download it into my harddisk and for database i download it from cpanel database backup menu.

If you are on shared hosting and your site is becoming famous then you should do daily backup .

You should be able to migrate with the click of a button. I am a host and I do it every day!

Would be bad to change the DNS as some parts of the world would not see your site. May get a cloud server. My opinion.

    Easy stuff.

First of all, you need to calm down.

Then I agree with the above inputs.

Hence, it is really important to have a back up all the times.
