A question about opt-in form

This may sound a silly newbie question.

Recently i became an affiliate of a program in relationship niche.

In affiliate area, product owners have provided affiliate resources like banners and opt in forms.

My question is
----------------
When I use their given code for opt-in form on my site and visitors give their email and name in exchange of free report, do I need to have my own autoresponder? OR visitor's data will be collected by their autoresponder?

If I don't need to have autoresponder, is it a good idea to let go of my prospective subscriber?

Pls guide.

Thank you.

You should have an auto responder so you can capture their details. That is how you make a list.

correct - get your own autoresponder. Use services like AWeber, MailChimp (free for first 2000 subscribers and can send 12000 mails a month to them) or iContact

I used Mailchimp when I first got started, now however I use aweber. I would definitely recommend setting up an auto responder, it really keeps people engaged. Let me know if you have any questions!

If you do not have an autoresponder you can't create an opt-in box. Get an autoresponder account from Aweber or Getresponse.

If you are going to market on the internet you definitely need an autoresponder. I use Aweber and I would certainly recommen them.

Yes you must have an autoresponder to capture names and email addresses. The best bet for free and low cost autoresponders are Mailchimp and Aweber. There are systems out there that offer far more tools, however, if you are just looking to use the basics to run affiliate campaigns then these will do fine.

some affiliate managers will provide affiliates with an optin code to subscribe people to the list of the affiliate program owner (not you).

they do this so that you can easily get people into their followup system and thus increase your commissions earned as their system sends out automated messages trying to convince prospects to buy and thus earn you a commission.

however to build a real business online, you need your own autresponder service like aweber or constantcontact.com

having prospects subscribe to your list will give you multiple chances to make sales of various products and services and thus earn more money.

Building YOUR list should be a priority from day one - whatever your niche. Don't make the error of building someone else's list.

If the affiliate program you want to promote leads to a squeeze page, make a pre-sale page or squeezepage of your own offering a niche-specific freebie and then send the traffic to the affiliate site from an autoresponder message or as the 'confirmed/thank you' page.

That way, those leads you have spend time and money finding will be there for you to build a good profitable relationship with through your list activities in the future.

If you don't have an autoresponder, then remember that you are building the vendor's list. Get an Aweber account and start collecting email addresses of your prospects so that you can follow up with them.

no you never want to give away your subscriber to the vendor, a list is a very valuable asset and with out your own list you not really building a stable business on a solid foundation I would get my own autoresponder and start building your own list if I were you.

If you treat your subscribers good. Send them a lot of quality content. They will gladly open your email when you send them an offer.

    Conversions are really great!

If I'm understanding correctly, you are asking if you need an auto responder because the company you are promoting already offers an opt in form you can use.

Here is the thing, if you are just looking for one off sales then use their autoresponder, but why would you do that. When they sign in to the company's autoresponder they build their list not yours. You don't have the contact info of the person that opted in. That information goes to the company. From my experience that is how most "provided" opt in forms work. Some maybe different.

So that being said, it would be best to have your own opt in box and autoresponder so YOU can collect the person's info that is opting in, so you can market similar products to them in the future, because by them opting in they have shown interest in your niche you are promoting. Hope that helps.

It is fair to say that some (or maybe many, these days) vendors pass along the cookies into their autoresponder service so you will get credited in the future should they mail that list again about the product and one of 'your' leads buys.

That, however, is a bit one-dimensional. You could also approach these leads with all kinds of other related offers if they were on your list.
