This might be a noob question but hope i will get some reply from senior warriors
lets say a keyword "how to make your hair silky" does have 1,776,682 Search results in google.

But if i search for same keyword with colons on both sides. Means i need to search for exact phrase in google and competetion tell me that there are only 6 websites that has full keyword phrase "how to make your hair silky". so lets say i want that whenever someone search full phrase keyword my website should get on top.

Can i get my site up in those 6 or its not possible ?
of course i am newbie help will be appreciated.

If you have that phrase on your site I guarantee you a top seven position once indexed. Getting higher depends on your on page SEO and your off page SEO.

Have a look at the top six sites and see why number one has earned the top position.

@Melissa 82 Thanks for your valuable information. Let me take this talk a further step ahead for my information and for other newbies. I do sure that if my article listed on eZine with same keyword it would take 3 days to come on top if other websites dont have high ranking already.

What do you want to be high-ranked in Google, Naseem? An article on your website or an article on EZA's website?

I have 1,600 articles in EZA but they're not there for potential customers to find. If I have a 25% click-through rate from EZA, that means I lose 75% of the traffic that goes there.

When you're doing article marketing, when a potential customer finds one of your articles by putting one of its keywords into a search engine, the last thing you want them to find is an article directory article. You want them to find an article on your own site.

EZA is very useful to me, and I put all my articles there (eventually, after everything else I do with them), but they're not there for customers to find. They're there for publishers to find, and to re-publish them. That's why article directories exist, and it's the purpose they serve.

        Build your business, not EZA's.

If you put your keyword in colons in big G all that tells you is the competition you have to go up against you need to look at keyword monthly as well.
Generally speaking if you can find a keyword with at least 3000 to 4000 monthly searches and competition is less then 100,000 that would be ideal.

Another way to research the competition is to go to the bottom of the results and click to the very end. That shows the data of who is optimized for the term.

For this way, I find under 400 results work best.

To do this sort of competition analysis, do the quoted search as you would normally do, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click through the pages. From page 1 to page 10 and so on.

Eventually what will happen is you will get something like...

"In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 344 already displayed."

So the true competition isn't the same as what the quotes tell you.

        Actually...

What if i create a facebook fan page with same keyword and promote a clickbank product. and we already know facebook is world 2nd big website. How many chances do we have that we will get traffic in minimum time. I hope google will index my facebook fan page ASAP.

You could probably rank highly for that, but keep in mind that not many people are searching for that exact phrase. Out of curiosity, I did an exact match search and found that 320 people per month were searching for that phrase on Google. So even if you ranked #1, you wouldn't be able to squeeze very much traffic out of that. Of course, if you target a number of such phrases the traffic can start to add up.

Yes i was just giving an example about that particular phrase. Actually i am trying a system myself i am a newbie and system is to look for a phrase that should have 15000-20000 Global searches. But full phrase should not have been on more then 100 websites

And then do other tricks to get ur site up.

You should always check the competition without quotes because very few if any people put quotes in a search.

However, if you create enough posts with different variations of your keyword in articles and blog posts then it will help.

However, you are still competing against a lot of sites and those sites are doing all they can to be on and stay on page one too. So I find it simpler and less work to just find lother long tail or different keywords that get good search traffic and use lots of them for getting to my sites.

i know no body putts qoute on both sides to search for a specific phrase but just telling you that google first find the exact keyword and then look for high PR.

Well, think about it - what will normal people search? With brackets or without them?

Surely without brackets. So that is what you should be basing your rating on.

You still didn't get me. we use qoutes for a specific purpose. Its for case study to check a keyword with full key phrase. For example try this keyword "how to make your kitchen look cooler" and you wont find any one link with this full phrase in google results

I am not saying that people will find out this phrase with qoutes. But if you find this keyword with qoutes. You are going to have no results at all. So this is just a case study. I hope that make sense to you buddy.
