Default IP Cloaker / not having your actions tracked

I was thinking of putting this in the porgraming section but im not sure if it falls under that category so here it is

In an industry where you can pretty much get some relative success by copying what other do, do many use IP cloakers of some software that complete covers up your actions on the internet?

I just had this thought that if someone knew exactly what steps you were taking they could pretty much jump into the same niche and try and do the same.

Is this usually the case? or do many here actually cover up all their tracks?

I've also read (can't remember where) that such software might affect search engine rankings.

Really, is it necessary to take security to such lengths? my assupmtion is YES but i would like your oppinions on this.

See the glass half full or half empty? The way I see it you have the wrong size glass altogether!
