Website legal documents

I'm looking at the needed legal documents to be in compliance with all the government regulations or any other requirements posed by anyone else. I did a quick Google search, mind you what I'm looking for right now is just a way to satisfy any legal requirements. At some later date when money is more readily available I can look into having these documents drawn up professionally. That would also give me time to vet a professional with proper experience.

Can anyone suggest a source to get these documents and a source for these documents that meet all the legal criteria.

    Here are 3 recommended site:

Internet Marketing Law Center - Membership - My site.

    http://legalformsgenerator.com - Mike Young's site.

Internet Marketing Law Products - Bob Silber's site.

These are the only sites I am aware of with forms you are looking for that were prepared by attorneys and owned by attorneys with significant online experience.

what specific legal requirements are you looking to satisfy?

Unless you are trying to comply with some other parties terms, there are no legal requirements for having a web site.

You can take other people's and hand spin them into to- the -point readable paragraphs. They don't need to be complicated. Google does tend to display them so write understandably.

      A) Here's how we protect your privacy:
      ...............
and we reserve the right to change our policy and will post changes on this page or .....

      B) The website owner may benefit financially if you purchase anything from this site or from any sites you visit through links on this site

Cover those points (in 2 separate pages) and you are usually covered.

If selling make money programs add some CYA stuff and let them know that results in the testimonials aren't typical (unless they are)

Actually this is what I've done up to this point. I have used the documents from a large corporate website, someone who no doubt keeps a stable of highly paid attorneys. Though frankly this approach makes me a bit nervous. That's why I'm looking to update everything.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation is a great place to get lots of free info on current legal events pertaining to the internet. They can be quite helpful in certain sticky situations.

If anyone else knows of any websites with some really good free information let me know - or any good books out there.

I"m also interested in staying informed. Thanks in advance.

I recommend listening to Kindsvater. Brian is an accomplished attorney in this area of law and I can say his Internet Marketing Law Center is more than worth the price of admission.

No, it's not. He is looking for legal documents. Not schlock (no matter how well intentioned) from a freelancing graphic artist.

Before you go shooting off your mouth, as you can PLAINLY READ on the web page you link to:

          by John Roberts (Author)

John Roberts, a self employed freelance web designer of 9 years is an experienced programmer, writer, graphic artist and seo expert.
and on Roberts website the sales page specifically says what his background is. Maybe you can point me to the words solicitor, or attorney, or lawyer.

I've you've been a 'numbskull' promoting these as attorney prepared then no wonder you have hundreds of dollars of ClickBank refunds.

The bottom line is that NONE of the documents on that site are what the OP was asking about.

Look at what is offered ....

An invoice and related documents for web design work. An invoice for goodness sake.

These are not legal documents to comply with laws and government regulations.

Roberts doesn't claim that his documents do that. He doesn't claim that he is an attorney. And you shouldn't either.

I am a member of Brian's site and can recommend it highly. Mike Young is also a straight speaking warrior, but I like Brian's content better.

Mike does have a great book on legalities of web marketing that I highly recommend - you can find it on Amazon.

I would caution against spinning someone's else legal terms - if you discount the copyright issues you still may end up shooting yourself in the foot since your site is probably not the same as someone elses. And heave help you if you have customers in California....oh what fun that jurisdiction is in online marketing.

    good luck,
