800+ visitors/month 50 click thrus 0 sales - can u help?

Hi, I am getting 800+ traffic a month to my **** berry website (wordpress), which is in my sig. Pretty much all my traffic comes from yahoo (search term "**** berry benefits").

The problem is that people come and read the info, then bail. In response I made a post claiming that "x" (x being an affiliate link) is the best place to buy the berries, and it kind of worked; now people actually click through to the shop (just over 50 now from this month) but nobody is buying the products.

If you could take a look at the site quickly and jot down some things that would improve my click through rate that would be great.

**Also another question that is completely different...I have startlogic as my web host. I signed up for two domains, and installed joomla on one and word press on the other. The problem is that I cant reach my joomla site. If I type it into the browser it just redirects back to the wordpress site. I'm scared to buy more domains because they just get muddled together...any tips on how to prevent this?

Thanks,
Matt

    Hey Matt,

Just dropped by your site and I had the following suggestions :

1.) Show a full post on your homepage rather than an blurb... If I was a potential customer I would look at the site, decide that it didn't have the "look" i was going for and leave.. If there was a full post I might decide to stick around and at least read the first article...

2.) Create a sidebar on your mainpage.. Convince me right off the bat that you are the **** berry expert and you have information that I need desperately.. Tease me, lead me on, do whatever you have to do but pitch me in the sidebar!

3.) Graphics.. I noticed that the site looks a bit plain, is there anway you can spice up your home page with a few graphics?

4.) Install google analytics, check out your bounce rate and make some modifications to the copy, break up your articles and make a series, engage your reader and make them want to click a link to go to the second article in the series, engage their self interest and put them in a place where they would have to be crazy not to want to buy your product..

Hey i'm just brainstorming here but I find that the more I try to help others, the easier it is to work on my own blogs/websites... Guess its just good karma right?

Let me know if you want to do some more brainstorming!

Hey Matt like the site design. Here's what I think may help.

    1) For a start 50 clickthroughs really isn't enough to be making assumptions. Wait until you have a few hundred clickthroughs atleast and if it's still not converting then think about changing the offer.

    2) 800 visits and 50 clickthroughs is pretty low. You should be aiming for atleast 30% of your visitors to click through in my opinion so try and draw more attention to your link to get people to click through.

    3) Also if your trying to rank for the term '**** berry benefits' then you should change your signiture link to an anchored backlink instead of just your domain.

    4) Think about adding a pop up or exit pop up to capture name and email addresses, maybe give away a free **** berry report. With 800 visits you may be able to get a couple of hundred or more subscribers that you can market to each month, and in the mean time you can work on increasing your traffic.

Thats all I can think of right now but if anything else springs to mind I will let you know.

    Will

    Matt,

Firstly, I have to say that the search phrase "**** berry benefits" is more of a "research" term rather than a "buy" term. I would much rather be promoting a term like "get **** berry" or "buy **** berry" (something like this)... I would try spending some time searching for a low-competition keyword like this.

Secondly, your website looks like a blog to me. Whenever I visit a blog, I am almost always there for information. Your page doesn't seem like it's trying to sell something to me - if I were you, I would build a new squeeze page or landing page, and perhaps use the content on this site inside a LIST or perhaps as ARTICLES in ezineArticles, which redirects to your squeeze/landing page.

    Good luck!
    Tim

To be honest, after landing at your site, I didn't really know what to do next.

You have a goal in mind for the user (for them to click through to your affiliate links) but it's not obvious as a user what to do.

You have to get that balance between being blatant and obnoxious (CLICK HERE!!!!) and providing useful information whilst still funneling users through to the affiliate links.

Try putting a link at the bottom of every post saying "Looking to try **** berries? Click here for first timer offers" or something.

Also, "Buy **** Berries Cheap Online" - can you make this stand out more? I didn't see the link the first time. Maybe make it a different color or bolder? And I don't think the "cheap" word is useful, I was just looking for "buy **** berries online" and I think most people would search for that too. If you've done keyword research that says otherwise please ignore this.

Thanks for the help to the people that replied. Seems like I need:
      A side bar
A better organised site: ie muzzi not know what to do next.
      Email capture
Better placing of affiliate links eg after useful information and not blatant 'CLICK HERE's

Amitwill what do you mean by "change your signiture link to an anchored backlink instead of just your domain"? Doesn't my signature link count as a backlink?

tscott you seem to be telling me to do a total makeover:

"Your page doesn't seem like it's trying to sell something to me - if I were you, I would build a new squeeze page or landing page, and perhaps use the content on this site inside a LIST or perhaps as ARTICLES in ezineArticles, which redirects to your squeeze/landing page."

So do you mean I make just one big page with great info on it and an affiliate link at the bottom...and then get traffic from a list and ezine-like articles?

Thanks again to all for the help

    I meant the following:

Create another page that seems more like a sales page (or edit your current one to do this). Either try to get people to signup to an email list, or try to sell the product on this page (something like an affiliate page that product developers give their affiliates). In essence, make it look like you are trying to sale something.

You can use what you have on your current webpage as content - you can use this information to write an article and submit it to an article directory. This could help bring more traffic to your site... and make that article direct to your sales page through a link in the bio box (I would if I were you... but you can try making the article redirect to your information page as well). An even better idea is if you have an email list (or want to start one), use the content on this current site in the emails you send to your list.

And your information page needs to link to your squeeze or landing page (if you create one) both at the top and at the bottom in my opinion. You want to make it clear that you want visitors to go to that page to buy something.

Let me know if I need to clarify something!

    Good luck.

You need to get a money making keyword. You can use a product name for for keyword. Itouch is hot.
