Tasks missing from Gmail...?

This may be in another thread, but not spotting it... so if it is, please point the way.
Q:
I had a bunch of Tasks in my gmail that disappeared overnight. Noticed in the Gmail help that this happened to others, too.
Today I opened a couple gmails for clients to use and there was no Task feature at all there now.
Q: Is it gone? No more using Tasks?
Strange thing is I was just bragging about how great gmail and all the gmail tools were, especially Tasks, so people could get rid of Outlook. Hmmm...forget that for now, I guess
Any Warriors have an insider scoop on this - or future gmail goodies ?
