Is it worth changing to wordpress?

Basically I made a site using a program called Webplus, which is a kind of drag and drop program for web design amateurs.

I like the site, but im wondering if wordpress with all the plugins available etc would be a better idea. I'm trying to monetize the site mainly with adsense by the way.

It's a fairly new site so i'm only getting about 30 visitors a day, but i'm hoping to build on that and wondering about the best way to change those visitors into clicks.

Thanks

Yes it's much better. Wordpress let's you easily insert your AdSense code, not to mention the overall functionality.
You can also change the theme whenever you want and there are a lot of plugins to achieve good SEO results.

Wordpress is my favorite content management system. I have never used the software you are talking about. I suggest you compare and contrast the two and make a decision. Which one best suites your needs?

The functionality of the software is fine, its easy to use and i feel it all looks fine. I'm just thinking about the SEO really, as canyon said:

So if i was to change my site to wordpress, would i be able to work on the wordpress site without taking down the other one? For instance, the normal homepage for example is: 50cc-bikes.com/. I could install the wordpress into 50cc-bikes.com/wordpress.

Once everything is finished and i like the way it all looks, could i change it so that the wordpress site, becomes the main site by making it so that 50cc-bikes.com/ is greeted by the wordpress site, not the other one?

      Thanks

Or i have another domain which i don't use that i could use to build the site, would i be able to transfer it over without loosing any of the pictures, links etc?

Are you regularly adding content to the site? If not, then there's nothing magical about wordpress. Plain html sites have the same tags (title, description) etc. There's no magic SEO love for wordpress.

Now, if you're code's a mess and your site takes forever to load, you could have an issue.

But if it's just a matter of inserting adsense, you can do that easily by hand if it's a small site.

Why don't you setup a subdomain and install Wordpress on it so you can play around with it?

In doing this, would you just set it up as something like mydomain/blog and not take it live? Then when it is right, how do you switch it to the original domain name and also how do you take the original static site down after that?
      Thanks.

Well here is my two cents, there is a learning curve to using the WordPress dashboard, but it's not too bad. Word Press blogs are also Hackable and they are often penetrated by hackers. Anytime you run a PHP script with a database on your server, your site can be hacked.

I'm not saying that it will be, but it can happen and It happens quite often to WordPress webmasters.

If you do decide to go with WordPress, make sure to get the Word Press Super Cache plug-in, it makes your blog load a lot faster, also get a good Site Map plug-in, this will get your posts indexed a lot faster.

I also recommend to be very careful installing new plug-ins that you are not familiar with, a lot of the times hackers will find security holes in your plug-ins and try to hack your site through them.

Before you install a plug-in make sure the creator of the plug-in keeps it updated on a regular basis.

Just a few tips I thought I would share with you.

example.com = root (folder of the domain)
        exemple.com/blog = subfolder
        blog.example.com = subdomain
(just to make sure everybody knows what we are talking about...)

As the OP was initially interested only whether the possibility to move it from a subfolder to the root exist or not - I didn't go into the "how-to-do-it" details.

Although I have answered that question several times in this forum...

You "take down" the original static, html by deleting the files - it's that simple.

To move a WP installation from a subfolder to the root:
        - login wp-admin > Settings: General
        - change the 2 URLs by cutting off the subfolder
        - save changes
        - (if there is an error message, don't worry)
        - connect your FTP program to your host and move ALL the WP files and folders from the subfolder to the root
        - should work > check it by going to example.com

I'm not sure how the WebPlus software works, but you might be better off with WordPress for at least a few different reasons.
    Which would be:
    - It allows you to easily switch the design of your site, just find a new design that you like and with a couple clicks the whole site can look different.
    - Adding content is really easy, you can either do it from the backend or even set it up so that you can post right from your favorite word processing program.
    - Your content won't be locked up, you can easily export all your posts/pages so you can move it between sites or even to a new CMS if you choose.

However, don't switch to WordPress expecting it to be a "magic bullet" for SEO. There are a lot of nice plugins to help get everything setup right, but it will still require a lot of work on your part.

    Just my 2 cents worth.
I was already using WordPress for some sites and I am changing some of my old static (.html) sites to WordPress.
It is just so much easier to add a Page (or post) and there is a plug-in for almost everything.
You probably already know this but if you make the change and your site has any backlinks, be sure to keep the page URLs the same.

There are lots of companies building models around wordpress. Basically, trying to sell wordpress functionality to newbies who don't want to actually learn wordpress. I don't think that's a good idea, especially if you're committed to doing IM. Don't use a substitute, just dive in and learn wordpress. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time right.

Another option, is to use a hybrid parent/child theme like socrates, thesis, headway.

If you are wanting something wyziwyg, then Headway 3.0 is my favorite. Amazing real-time drag-and-drop. Not a lot of child themes developed yet, but they're coming. If you need child themes now, then Thesis might be better option.

I'm not familiar at all with the parent/child theme aspect, would you mind explaining what that is all about please? I bought a Headway theme but am not using it to anywhere near it's real functionality. I watched a video about the child/parent thing on another theme but I'm not grasping why/when you would choose a parent or a child theme.

      Many thanks

WordPress is so easy when you play around with it and learn it. If you are not familiar there are several videos on Youtube that will show you how to use it.

There are so many themes that are available free and you can quickly create a site tailored to your own liking. The plugins are very easy to install.

Install a plugin that allows you to get a weekly backup.

I haven't seen your site, but drag and drop sites usually look like drag and drop sites. I'd go with Wordpress. With a nice theme, no one needs to know you're an amateur.

I also made the mistake of using WebPlus once. It can often get incredibly frustrating, whereas WordPress is rather simple to use and it has so many different themes (many of which are free of cost) that you can find one that suits your company perfectly. You don't need much prior knowledge when you're using WP, and there are a lot of specific tutorials out there which will help you out with any problems you are having. WordPress also gives a more professional vibe than WebPlus because of the wide array of plugins available to choose from.

WordPress is great, Google tends to send more traffic to a site just because it uses WordPress, plus there's lots of useful plugins, and other features, and setting up and maintaining a site is fairly simple (plus there are lotts of people who can help with customization etc. if you need it).

Make sure you redirect all your current URL's to the relevant new WordPress URL's, when you've set up the WordPress version.
