Surrounding yourself with successful Internet Marketers?

I believe it is so important to surround yourself with successful Internet Marketers to become successful yourself in IM.

I've been mentored and coached by great Internet Marketers and they've made a big difference in my learning curve. I don't believe I would of made my first dollar as fast in IM without them.

Any thoughts on this?

    David,
I think the Mentoring/Coaching/Forum interactions are huge!!! My eyes were completely opened after spending $75 for an hour long coaching call with Alex Becker.
I learned a lot in that short period of time.

Birds of a feather flock together. The more successful marketers we associate with, the higher our progress will be, provided we take massive actions.

However, do not over rely on them or our own creativity is at stake. Many people become robots so there are lots of exact duplication. I like to take proven materials and personalize it.

I wholeheartedly agree. I can remember when i was in college, i would purposely stay up till 3am in the morning just so i could watch some "make money" home business informercial, and it inspired me to keep going and never give up on my dream of having my own internet business. Alot of these new informercials still motivate me till this day.

This concept doesn't just apply to direct, one-on-one relationships or mentoring. Just take a look at this forum. You can ask questions, or answer other people's questions. You can easily tell who the "serious" members are, and who the spammers/scammers/leechers are. And we're all here for one reason.

I could name a few members here who I've learned a lot from, and who have been giving towards me with their knowledge, like I try to be giving towards others. Places like this can function as a mutual exchange of ideas and support, even to the extent that you could call it "mentorship" at times, for a lot of really decent, business-minded people. Of course, you basically get back what you put into it, like most things in life.

I agree that surrounding yourself with successful people can help you become successful just like getting in the wrong crowd can be a detriment.

    Very true indeed

Most of us do not actually know any internet marketers in 'real' life. I guess that is why forums like these are so popular - they allow internet marketers to interact with each other and benefit greatly

I don't think I could have gotten where I am without the support of other people in the field. Like Jon has mentioned, it does not have to be mentoring. Simple interaction such as exchange of ideas on this forum is also sufficient

The question is what if you can't afford these guys (like me) what should you do?

I don't think you necessarily need a mentor - you should just post regularly on this forum and you'll get all your queries answered. You can also get any kind of support you might need from this community. I don't believe in paying people huge amounts of money to mentors. While getting a personal mentor is always nice, it is not necessary

Well said YasirYar, and I should add for Cameron that you can invest a one time fee of only 37$ to have lifetime access to the private section of the forum where you can get a lot of great IM expertise.

Finally, some courses given by great Internet Marketers within the WF are not that expensive too. When you think that you have to pay 4 to 6 figures to a franchisor as a franchisee and get their expertise (mentorship) to make money. Most of the time, that's not even including the equipment and property rental that you have to pay to start your franchise business.

Internet Marketing is amazing for its low cost investment.

        Regards

It's like anything else. If you want to learn yoga, you have two options - you can either pay an experienced teacher, or you can learn through free methods. The former requires less legwork, but costs more, and the latter requires more legwork, but is free.

Meanwhile, if you can't afford to pay an experienced teacher, your options are reduced to one - learning through free methods.

And I'll be honest with you - people who can't figure out how to learn what they need to know by taking advantage of the free resources that are available probably aren't cut out for a career in IM (setting aside people who simply choose to pay for help in order to move things along more quickly).

  • Opt in and Jazwarrior,

Well and true said! I always wondered and keep thinking of getting in touch with top webmasters and marketers specially those who are the ultimate and brought new strategies to turn the current strategies. But what I am still in doubt most of the time is that how I will get their IM's address or even if I will get will they add me?

Please reply to this, I need!

      Hi Clue03,

Make sure to invest less than 500$ in the beginning. You can have a lot of great courses for less.

Secondly, search for free IM info, free courses, free IM newsletters and free advices for the first few months so that you have a better picture of the IM industry and be aware of what you really want to do.

Thirdly, look around and look for only reputable Internet Marketer that are doers of what they teach. Those reputable marketer have usually more than one WSOs/courses available in this forum. Look at the comments of people that signed up to the courses and look for positive comments and take notes of potential and reputable WSOs.

Finally, before you buy a WSO/course, you can also verify if your potential IM mentor and/or WSO is mentioned on other serious IM review sites to validate his reputation.

      Good success

I would not go so far as to PAY a mentor. But I do surround myself with other successful people and I would say most of my friends are all biz owners themselves.

They both motivate me and we can help each other at NO COST.
I have had a few people "mentor" me but that was because they wanted to pass it forward not because they wanted $xxxx

You might as well either surround yourself with successful "tried and true" marketers, or surround yourself with new world mavericks and see where that takes you.
