Approx product development costs for a WSO

Hey Warriors,

I'm seeing some great stuff on this forum. Keep it up.

For those of you that have created and launched WSO's.

I was wondering if you could share roughly how much someone should expect to invest in product development costs in time and money to create and launch a WSO in:

a) ebook format for e.g.
b) video
c) audio
d) all of the above.

Thanks in advance

It depends on a lot of things. How long will it take you to write a valuble guide? It varies for me. Can you do your own video or do you need to outsource? Same for audio. It depends on your skills and level of experience.

I can tell you the actual hard costs of launching a WSO. $37 for a war room membership. $40 for a WSO ad. $19 for WSO pro (that's for each license so if you have an OTO to go with your offer make that $38). Alternatives to WSO pro are popping up though.

You'll have additional misc. expenses if you have to get a designer to make ecovers and graphics for your offer. You'll have even more into it if you need to hire a copywriter. There's no way to give hard figures because prices for all of this stuff varies a lot.

If you have the skills to do this stuff on your own, it's the hard costs above and the rest is your time.

With the exception of paying for listing fees, all of my WSOs are free.

    Think about it.

    Open Office is free.
    Researching is free.
    Saving snapshots is free.
    Pressing to PDF is free.
    Making a video is free.

Not alot of costs at all!

For the ebook, you will need Adobe to format it into a pdf although there are many applications available to do this if you look online. This is free download at adobe.com

For the video, I highly recommend Camtasia which will run you approx $300 at Techsmith.com

For the audio, camtasia can double to do this.

Regarding time, you will either need the knowledge yourself for whatever you want your product to be about or you could find some PLR product/articles and rewrite them yourself or outsource it.

You either have to have the knowledge, find someone who possesses the knowledge or find something written down with that information so that you can reconstitute it.

There are actually too many variables that COULD be put in place to give you an accurate figure but the bare necessities are listed above.

    Hope this helps SOME.

I've launched 2 WSOs so far.

Fixed cost are, as already explained, registration costs (War Room - one off only ever; WSO - start and each bump; WSO Pro - one off per WSO).

For the first WSO, I had an ecover done professionally on the WF ($17).
The sales video was free (I teach video with free tools in my WSO), graphics were free, the bonus ebook covers were free (did it all myself with the tools I teach), all the software was free (Camtasia is nice but definitely not necessary).

For the second WSO, I only had fixed costs as I did everything else myself.

Now there is another item you need: it's not a luxury if you haven't done your own WSO yet - You need information/coaching how to set up, launch and run a WSO successfully. The most recent one by John_Pearce (his username) is the one to go for (my review of it is post #109 of that thread). The basic price is currently $6.70 but will go up every 24 hours or so, the upsell (which is a must in my view) is $47.

Equipped with that, you'll have everything you need to create, launch, run and succeed with your WSO.

BTW, when I did my first WSO, John's course was not available. I bought at least four different courses (which all complemented each other) but also contained a few errors. The cost of these courses was about $40. John's course will save you time and trouble.

I hope this helps. Best of luck.

I'm actually in the process of developing a WSO and I don't expect it to cost me much to develop at all.
Fortunately I am pretty good with graphics etc and there are some great resources on-line you can use to do that yourlsef.
At the moment, it's looking like $40 for the WSO placement, but that's about it. It's just more about time at the moment.

I usually undergo costs around $2,000 for product creation. But, my products are aimed to be presented not only to Warrior Forum members, but also to the market (depending on how well it does). Usually the money collected from my WSO is just enough to cover my product creation costs, copywriting, graphics, etc. I never really try to profit from the WSO forum. The WSO forum is more of a market which I am able to receive testimonials and advice on for my full scale launch which will actually make me money.

Thanks for all your replies. Your advice will come in very handy. I think it's good to get an idea upfront.

I like the idea of free research costs.

I'll be most likely doing the videos myself using powerpoint and camtasia but will look at getting the video's edited professionally. I will have to outsource the ebook design and WSO sales page graphics. Most likely write the copy myself, although I might outsource this as well.

Oh yes and if someone's thinking of launching the product on a grander scale outside of the forum, a WSO is a good idea to test it out I guess.

I did get the WSO Domination and Development WSO. It's got some great content on launching and listing a WSO. I'll most likely get John Pearce's WSO listing guide as well as it seems to touch on points not covered in the one I got.

Anyone have any idea if there are any costs involved in J.V.s with other members?

    Any other ideas welcome.

    Thanks
