Pizza Hut Shows You How To Get Free Publicity

For Valentine's Day, Pizza Hut is offering a $10,010 priced package that includes a pizza, limo service, flowers, fireworks, and a ruby ring.

Now, think about this: Of those with $10,000 to spend on a proposal, how many of them are going to think a Pizza Hut pizza is an appropriate dinner?? My guess: ZERO.

So, why did Pizza Hut even come out with a crazy package like this?
Publicity. In fact, I'm sure their entire purpose was just to get publicity, knowing that they probably wouldn't even sell a single one. In return they've received publicity on numerous websites and TV programs (including the late night talk shows).

I bet they have gotten an increase in revenues from this as well as publicity.

You're right, I bet they get a lot of publicity.

But, I bet they do sell at least a couple packages. I think of former USA VP candidate John Edwards and his wife Elizabeth (RIP). When they first met they were broke college students, so they went to Wendy's fast food restaurants. Eventually they became a rich, successful, powerful couple. And yet every year on their anniversary they continued to go to Wendy's.

So, I can imagine something similar with other couples -- spending their younger, poorer days courting each other at Pizza Hut. Then when they're rich and successful, they might just jump at the chance to relive those days with a bit more sophistication.

Haha great spin... no publicity is bad publicity. The more ridiculous the publicity stunt, the more publicity it gets. But it only applies to certain niche, unfortunately this gets lumped into niche of celebrities who are famous for nothing (ie: kardashians... who r they?)

However, I don't think Pizza Hut's tactic will work in something more serious such as when releasing a WSO. It would be career suicide!! If I was a customer and bought a WSO for $49.90 and got something full of bloated rubbish, i would be very disappointed. Of course a WSO like that would get tonnes of reviews... bad reviews which in this case will have the opposite effect.

Some things DO NEED quality.

  LOL...ya Pizza Hut just doesn't make me hungry.
  
  Maybe I'm a "pizza snob", lol. But I'll take many of the local pizza joints, or a more "gourmet" pizza chain well before I'd set foot in, or order from, Pizza Hut.

  I think ^^^this is what they're really banking on. Sure, it would be nice to sell a few of the kits, but I'd be willing to bet that, at the end of the day, they're going to see more money from people who read the article/saw the ad and said what TB just said!
  
  (on a side note, does this mean we don't have to hear from the guy playing the guitar and singing about $10 pizzas anymore? For some reason, he drove me nuts!)

Lololol. That is a great idea to create buzz. But that would be a horrible idea to think hiring Pizza Hut for a romantic endeavor would be a good idea, in my opinion. Lolololol.

My wife would of fallen for the pizza hut proposal...

In fact, I got through that for even less than the cost of that kit... :p

I pulled it off without spending a single dime... And that was good... I will still a struggling success story back then...

Yeah, but somehow I just can't see the whole flow of things. You pick up your wife to be in a limo...hand her some flowers and on the limo ride over there you bring out the ruby ring. She is so excited she says lets get something to eat so you take her somewhere to have a candlelit dinner....over pizza??? Must be me lol.
