If you clicked on this because you felt some type of emotion when you read this title, Great!

I just want to show everybody how to funnel in views to your post, blogs, etc.
When using this method
Just make sure you justify it though. I.E.

-internet marketing is a big scam, until I found this program ( your aff. Link here).
Just don't sound to spammy when you do it, I'M'er tend to.do that a lot

Best regards, Mikal Laster

Actually I only clicked on the title to quote a line from a group I listen to, "Warrant" which goes "If you don' t like what you see here, get the F*** out".

Emotion does make the clicking finger itch - but once someone clicks on an emotional ploy - you better be able to follow up that emotion by offering info that isn't disappointing. The punchline ".....until I found this program......" would have me completely unsubscribing to a mailing list.

Sure your headline had me click on the thread, but the content of the post left me disappointed.

I was looking for why you thought that and wanted to help you with some possible encouragement or advice. However when I saw that you were using that as a marketing ploy, you lost me.

You don't want to lose potential readers with feelings of disappointment or deception.

I would have moved on just as HeySal stated in her post. Sorry

I agree with HeySal, I hate those type of manipulative titles and tend to ignore and unsubscribe. I much prefer titles that suggest specific content of value is being delivered.

Totally agree with Sal - Gimmicks will alienate potential buyers as quick as anything... and for only your second post in this forum, your coming across a bit strong. You may want to get to know the culture before sharing such brilliant insights, else you may be taken as a bit presumptive.

I once read a notice for blood camp that started with the words 'Dinosaurs found' (in BIG font) and the went on to say "Now that we have your attention....." I didn't read what was after that I felt cheated I silently said 2 words and moved on.

Funny. Tells you to 'get out your comfort zone' yet does what a million other marketers do by the minute.

TIP: You need to be a little smarter when marketing to marketers.

Get out of your comfort-zone by all means, Mikal ... but take your subscribers/readers out of their comfort-zones by deceiving them (even momentarily) and they'll start unsubscribing/ignoring.

Hi, this is also my second comment in this forum, and I want to tell you that you don't have to understand what it means to be in a forum of such magnitude as this, maybe you do not know the statistics of this forum and are these:
    Alexa Traffic Rank: 149
    Traffic Rank in US: 86
    15 Reviews
    19,512 Sites Linking In
with these numbers you must realize that is a great opportunity for you to learn in a community of professionals who can develop business with friendly staff and publicize your skills and knowledge. Not the place to play or just have a good time, because time is money and we should not waste it.

Mikal, I give you credit for taking your whipping like a grown-up. You just saw how quickly you can make an impression, for the bad or the good.

Your opening post got me to click, but for the wrong reasons. After seeing the post, all that popped into my head was an old Texas saying...

        "Big hat, no cattle..."

        Hope you stick around, though.

Bait and switch marketers usually end up being unsubscribed by me. I mean, seriously?

I'm pretty sure this method works in any niche but internet marketing.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[5656276].message }}
  • I would be VERY careful with that type of manipulative tactics because you can EASILY alienate your audience from you, since they might see you as an opportunist who's more interesting in getting the click rather than on providing value.

I'm a firm believer in using curiosity (even shock) in headlines and email subject lines, but it needs to be done in a very sensible manner because it's easy to cross the line and thus to disgust your audience.
