Crowd funding websites...

I have a question about crowd funding websites like kickstarter.com or indiegogo.com... I understand the crowd funding concept and how pledges work but the part I don't get is how they get investors to invest??

It's easy to find people looking for money, they are a dime a dozen on the net but to actually attract people willing to donate money, this is another story.

Are these crowd funding websites just a platform to showcase your project and then you need to drive your own traffic to the project OR do they, somehow, attract investors and if so how do you think they do this?

Just curious about how they make this whole thing work....

They attract micro investors for sure ... keyword searches, social shares, activity on the site, and showing up in the various feeds / categories / sections on the websites all drive traffic to the offer. The advantage of using kickstarter or similar is the vast network of supports kickstarter already has.
