Newbie Needs Help Please

Hello,

Completely new to Internet Marketing and need some input please.

I am a developing a self-hosted Wordpress site to promote several affiliate products on 1 site. I intend to use PPC to draw traffic to my site. Initially I was going to use Adwords but after reading several posts, it can be expensive, restrictive and also there is the probability to get banned.

What other PPC sites would you recommend?

I do have a large marketing budget so spending $1000 on a campaign is no problem but I do understand that I have to do split-testing.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

  • Yahoo! or Facebook or LinkedIn PPC, or private ad space rentals in contextually relevant, higha uthority sites, Web forums, blogs and online social communities/networks/groups in your niche with large regular readership, active membership and active mailing list subscriber bases comprised of your target audience, or solo email ads. If you're in North America, you can get a $10/mo or so hosting account from a hosting company offering $100 or more of free Google Adwords PPC credits and $50 or more of free Yahoo! PPC credits, so you can use these free PPC credits to test out the feasibility of your PPC campaigns, before you start with your paid PPC campaigns...

    Welcome to the Warrior forum.

    These are the
    Internet marketing steps

    I recommend you follow.

    1. Find your niche – think of customer profile
    2. Find your products ( more than 4)
    3. Get affiliate links
    4. Find emails
    5. Create get response campaign
    6. Load in emails ( follow up )
    7. Create squeeze page
    8. Upload your squeeze page
    9. Drive traffic

    You should always prioritize

squeeze pages and building your own lists

rather than selling and then not

    keeping contact with the buyers.

    This is because,

    you know they are interested,
and they can buy more from you.

    Those that don't buy
    might sometime later !
So keep them in check too!
    Every click counts!

    All successful internet marketers

start by creating their own list

    as you should too.

    Get their emails and names,
    then sell to them.
    Equally easy ,right?

And here are some methods to drive traffic to your squeeze page.

I went for tons of workshop and I can finally categorize non- SEO traffic to these five types.

    1. Article marketing :

By writing articles related to your keywords,
it adds your ranking and creates many backlinks

and clicks to your web, besides branding you.

Just submit articles to Ezine articles( use it a lot),

    and start building traffic.

Oh yeah, you can also get others to write for you
if you are not one for writing.

Something like freelancers.com should work for you well !

Post as many articles as you can

as fast as you can to get better results.

    2. Video marketing :

Make and post videos on youtube with your link!

Make it funny or interesting and

soon viewers will be flocking your site.

As long as the content you give them is good,

    youtubers generally will see it.

You can also make videos of you reading out

the articles you have written and posted,

it might be boring but at least it has good info!

    3. Blogging :

Frankly, I am still trying it out

and it is not really working for me,

but other bloggers say that it is working for them.

Just post a blog every day or two and try to put

    in good content in it.

It seems you can also write it in a diary sorta style,

as long as it is interesting!

    Use wordpress.

    4. Solo Ads :

Paid traffic that does not guarantee subscribers.

It is a great way to start out when your list is low,

    but start out slow.

    Test the waters first.

See how many clicks or subscribers you are getting

with them and reevaluate the worth of the solo ads.

Generally, if you can get a certain amount

    of subscriptions or sales then,

    it is worth investing on.

Really the trial and error system for internet marketing.

    5. Classified Ads :

UsFreeAds is the classified ads strategy I am using right now.

There are actually more targeted people
to your niche by marketing it with classified ads.

And besides it ranks fine on Alexa,

the traffic ranking is 1k++ which is considered not bad.

You might wanna try it out too !

Hope I was able to help, good luck starting out!

      Dude....SERIOUSLY?

The OP simply asked "...besides Adwords....what other PPC sites would you suggest...?"....

98% of what you had to say was completely UNRELATED to the main topic! Next time you feel so urge to 'share your knowledge', do so by keeping ON TOPIC please!

To answer the OP's main question...I'd suggest Pay-per-click via Facebook...simply because IMHO, it's targeted traffic that can't be beat!

I'd recommend Facebook PPC but you do that split testing.

But you need to research and find a niche first. Good luck.

Becareful man... That 1000 bucks can disappear pretty fast If you really want to invest in PPC campaigns, why not spend that money first in getting a course about PPC so that u gain the knowledge first. There's a lot more to PPC than creating a campaign with cheap clicks. Hint: Competitor Analysis is HUGE when it comes to this game...

    Hello esee,

I just remembered that I've got the AdWords Bible (the greatest informative ebook on AdWords of over 400 pages). Anyone who went through it as I remembered, had instant results. If need it, just email me at louisken2[at]gmail.com to have it.

The difficulty is that you are starting with total unknowns. First you need to perfect your copy for conversions (your landing pages etc).

I suggest that you take a small amount of that money ($50-100) and test on adwords search. Vouchers would be perfect for this. Do a small test on 1 landing page and try and optimize it so that you know that your landing page works. Then you can use another $100 to test on display network and this time try out different text ads and banners to get some converting ones.

Then once you have the data here, move across to other ppc networks. Adwords sux for banning, but if you have access it's great to start because you get pretty instant data.

I wouldn't mess around with anything big like google or facebook until you know you have a winning landing page.

I would suggest trying out your website on bing first. The traffic quality is pretty good and it's fairly cheap, with a decent amount of volume. You won't go broke in 1 hour.

  • I use Facebook myself but I think it truly depends on your niche. Do a little research about where your niche seems to be hot and what the target audience is.

Facebook is still affordable and effective. You should try to use it.

FB may end up affordable but as you said you are doing split testing, do make sure you monitor it at each and every step. You never know which element is going to be critical and which wont. In fact, since I am one of those who started split testing at a much later stage, I realized much later that there were so many obvious things I could have optimized and saved money on, right from the beginning.

And yes, holistically speaking, be very watchful while using PPC. It is a boon if used well - but a curse if it ends up going unmonitored.

    All the best.

Welcome to the forum! You can use Microsoft Adcenter as your PPC option. They're more flexible than Adwords. That is the only PPC service that i recommend for you. Also do your work with free marketing methods also.

Welcome to the Warrior Forum! Be careful, you can burn through $1000 very quickly with pay per click. I would suggest that you try facebook pay per click. But first do some research on facebook pay per click. The Warrior Forum is a good place to start your research. Youtube is another good free training resource.

I think Marx and Nixgan gave two excellent answers to your question. You always need to develop a list for anything you do online, as well as offline, if you plan on doing some local marketing for the same affiliate products. Make sure you have a good reason for them to give you their name and e-mail address, and then you can push the affiliate products on the back end.

Once you have a list, you have a virtual asset that can be tapped into time and time again. If you continue to provide value to your list then they're more likely to be responsive to your offers, and to do as you ask.

As for the PPC platform to use, there are many, many options out there. I've heard varying things about 7search, but they seem to be the prime choice for second tier PPC traffic. I've used them in the past, but only briefly, so I do not have much of an opinion on their traffic.

I've used Facebook PPC and I've had a lot of success with that so far. You can get free advertising credit on there as well. I went through a quick course to get an easy $50 coupon code, and then was offered $100 directly from Facebook after I started advertising, so I had a nice $150 to play around with and learn the system. I found it extremely easy to target the exact demographic I was after on Facebook, and the control panel for their ads is user friendly.

I've also dabbled in Adwords, and while they have a tremendous amount of traffic to choose from I found it a little more difficult to find the correct demographic just by using keywords. They offer geo targeting and other features, but I think I might have jumped the gun and been a little too antsy to get my campaigns rolling. Adwords has some serious traffic potential though, it's crazy.

I've tried other types of ads as well, such as CPM, interstitial, and PTC... You just have to find the right traffic for your particular business model. Once you find the winning combination of squeeze page(s) and traffic the sky is the limit.

I wish you luck in your business!

    Create a squeeze page.

    Use solo ads.

    Build your list.

Sell affiliate products via sales funnel/email.

You can use this strategy alone or in combination with PPC or whatever

When you are admitting that you are completely new to the IM, then why do you want to start with spending money. You need time to learn. Why don't you spend 10-15 days just reading resource materials and understanding what is this all about. Study WF, do some google search, sign up for free traffic methods and so on.

Use your money wisely, if you are new in Internet marketing, use your money sign up Internet marketing workshop. If not, you are throwing your money in the drain, then later give up. They are different type of Internet marketing. Some good in affiliate marketing, some good in E-mail marketing, etc. Decide what you want and choose the right mentor or workshop. Cheer.
