Should you spin articles? Well, do you want to be like Voldemort?

When I'm browsing the forums during my down time, I usually have a book with me that I simultaneously read. For the past couple of days, it has been Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I assume you know the plot (and if you don't, what the hell?): Harry, Ron, and Hermione are after Voldemort's horcruxes.

So anyways, I'm reading the book while checking back up on this thread, and have one of my trademark random connections.

Spinning your articles is the equivalent to Lord Voldemort splitting his soul.

Think of your original article as the equivalent of a soul in the Harry Potter universe. In it's pure form it is innocent, valuable, and useful. It is meant to exist "as is". It shouldn't be broken, interrupted, or twisted, because you end up with the raw, dying, small childlike thing described in chapter 35.

When you spin your content into unreadable crap to further spread throughout the internet (or "commit murder" to keep the analogy going) you have just split up your soul. Your piece of spun content is now a horcrux. If you are one of the few who are thinking "Voldemort was a badass, this is awesome" you need to remember one thing: you're not a wizard.

You don't have a super secret set of hiding places for your spun articles, or magical enchantments that can protect them from prying eyes. You end up mass submitting that crap to anywhere that will take it. This would be the equivalent of Voldemort hiding pieces of his soul under Dumbledore's desk and hoping the old guy never cleans his office. You are literally just begging for potential readers to find crap and be turned away, and for others (like Google, since it seems popular to "spin for backlinks) to shoot down your "business."

Not very smart right?

Anyways, random analogy time is over. If you are thinking of spinning, just realize that you are weakening the original (quite possibly) good article, and are just setting yourself up to be destroyed.

Back to Harry Potter! (Spoiler Alert: Hedwig dies. Really? Was that necessary Rowling?)
