How To Get Traffic To Your Site...

These are the steps I'll usually take to get traffic to my site. Go to Google Keyword Toolbox and target search terms with an exact match of 1000+ searches per month. No point in targeting and ranking for a keyword if it gets no traffic. Next try to get an exact match domain to help you rank easier. Google places alot of emphasis on emd domains. If you focus on targeting long tail keywords you will also gain extra traffic from the search engines. Follow these tips and you will see some of your websites begin to rank and receive traffic.

    I think that is a good basic strategy. However, it doesn't always make sense if you are using strange keyword phrases like "white bookcases". I can't think of a good reason to only feature bookcases of a single color on a website. I think Google has caught on to emd domains like that and is starting to place more emphasis on authority sites rather than small niche sites. I think small niches can still work well if the niche makes sense and there is valuable information on the site.

      I agree with this statement. Authority sites are the way to go for long term profits. I was just trying to give some advice to newbies who needed a start.

    I did extensive keyword research and got few keywords... exact keywords searches - 20k+ I was ranking at position 4 and 5 for one week, Traffic was only 100-130 daily, I doubt. 20k exact keyword searches mean lot more traffic for those ranks... because I was ranking for number of other terms as well.

    Those are just the basic ones. It does not really mean you'll get massive traffic but atleast you know you'll have targeted traffic. It's how you optimized your site on-page and off-page without google eye-ing your site for a threat of penalties such as black hat seo and such.

    I wouldn't bet the farm on seo. Try to rank for Yahoo and Bing too, and do other marketing strategies other than Google.

      True. I've heard a few people changing search engine from google to bing. Also, you can diversify your traffic aside from google search engine. You can still look for other traffic from many websites and what's best about them is they can also be targeted traffic.

      I've found that it has been a mistake to first create the site... and then try to get traffic to it. That is, if you are serious about making money from the site or niche.

      Now, and fortunately much more successfully-- I now find where I can get decent paid traffic for a niche (as low cost as practical) and then build offers and sites with offers that harmonize with the traffic available.

      This represents more work in many area, but this structure is almost certain to work. If the traffic source is already being used profitably by other firms to convert for their offers, there is no reason why it won't convert for you or me.
