The main traffic source I use to make money is forum traffic. Let me tell you why. Because the traffic is targeted and it's free. PPC traffic is good for high volume. It's also targeted. I've done a little article marketing but never took it seriously enough to generate real traffic from it.

Forum traffic is like instant SEO. Any time someone searches for something with Google that is related to your niche, a forum will show up in results. For example if your niche is chocolate cake recipes and someone searches "how to bake a chocolate cake" and you post something with that title there is a good chance you'll get some traffic from it. And it's permanent. But what is best is if you can get other people to post for you, then you will increase your exposure.

You just need to test a little to make sure your ROI is worthwhile.

This works if the forum allows signatures. Then you can also get links pointing to your site or blog, etc. This also must be a forum that has enough visitors to make it worth while and is open to the public. You can post on private forums but you need to have enough members to make it worthwhile. Probably 5 Thousand or more.

I recently learned this trick and I love this. For those with little budget the forum traffic and article traffic is a good place to start. PPC will tell you quicker if you have a dud or if you have a good product that converts well.

I use a blog and not a website. I'm not a website expert builder. In fact my websites looks like someone took a dump on them.

One way to generate targeted traffic is to set up a Facebook Fanpage about your topic. Then make 10 posts of free information for every offer you make. You then set up a Facebook ad targeted to people in relevant demographics who are asked to click the Like button. It has been shown that this method can lead to relatively low cost per click and higher conversion. Especially if you split test the ads.

      Hi Heath,

good point made but you really have to do everything to a T because
if facebook thinks the sole purpose of your ad is to get a like they will not approve your ad.

I use a combination of everything depending on the site.

I like SEO traffic, because it's "permanent" meaning, once you start ranking, you get FREE traffic.

I like PPC traffic because it's highly targeted, however, you need to find a decent product with a nice return as well as work on your copywriting skills to make it worthwile.

I like Forum Traffic for the same reason as SEO traffic. It's free. It's not permanent, but it's instant.

I take my backlink and I put it where people will see it; dofollow or nofollow, I don't really care and I have had success with this attitude. SEO is not too hard of a concept. When creating backlinks, be sure to also use anchor text and I would stay away from website with no page rank. But forums are a great way to generate instant and targeted traffic to your website.

Im using free SEO traffic until now. But it is not reliable, so im planning to go for paid traffic solo ads. But you need to do your home work before starting out in paid traffic else it can be a costly mistake...

But when you start using paid traffic you are becoming more and more of a real business online and you exactly know what is your profit from your online business.

    Thanks

Amen to that. SEO is so damn frustrating. Google is always have a hissy fit with SEO people... constantly changing its algorithm, even when it doesn't actually help increase quality results.

I've mostly had the best luck with traffic from niche specific forums. Very targeted and seems to convert better, especially on affiliate products. Also SEO, that it's free traffic as well.

I've played around with PPC but haven't had much success with it at all.

For me... It always be Adwords Display Network... You could get bargain cheap clicks with the same quality with Search Network.

And for list building my best traffic is from Solo Ads. Although it's not cheap but the conversion is higher than any other traffic.

I like video marketing as it gives both video sites traffic as well as SEO traffic.

Also I find ranking videos much easier specially youtube, but I don't mainly focus on ranking my videos. I like to focus on submitting my video to various places as this brings major exposure for my video.

For example I make 10 videos about a keyword then submit those 10 videos to about 40 video sharing sites and that is massive exposure 400 videos.
I like that method and it worked really well for me, specially with adsense sites.

I prefer email traffic the best. It's very targeted and cheap if you know some good sellers. At the moment I've noticed there are a lot of bad sellers out there as well so it just takes testing.

I like SEO also but I don't rely on it as much as I used to...mainly because of various animal updates. Paid traffic is where it's at! I do agree though that forum traffic is great.

  • Is anyone getting loads of traffic from video marketing?
That's what I'm thinking of venturing in a bit more seriously.

But at the moment, I'm really getting into article marketing. Writing high quality articles about my niche and getting them syndicated to authority sites can pull a lot of traffic.

I also outsource my SEO (which is paid traffic for me) at some cost, but the traffic is still building up because the keywords I target are still low comp/low traffic long tail keywords though it has shown to pick up momentum.

Forum marketing is awesome for me. It's a two way street. I learn things from other members that really help my business and also allows me to help others that dont know a lot of that stuff. Traffic is very targeted and as everyone else mentioned, it's free.

Social media for me is sorta like a combined article marketing + forum marketing concept. Build relations, add value, your content gets syndicated virally if you are delivering on quality.

I also used PPC for a while to kick start my list. Steady growth of traffic here, but again, I prefer to be diversified.

Guest posting traffic. Search Engine Traffic. Article Directories traffic (ah, maybe not). Social Media traffic.

Depends on what I've to offer.. The above traffic strategy is for my blog. How I drive traffic to my blog can and will be very different then how I drive traffic to my product launch page.

I like traffic from social networks, you drive people to your site. You basically promote your site on forums/blogs/fan pages/groups which have the same niche with your site, means people are interested on your site.

SEO traffic is also good way to increase your traffic, it needs lot of work and effort but it worth it.

PPC offers the easiest scalability and control. You should go look for adwords and facebook PPC as said bygax 13.
