Which Type Of Video Product Do You Prefer?

I've noticed that some of my recent video products have ended up being very long single videos (around 1 hour).

I'm wondering if I would actually be better off breaking my products down into multiple videos (5-10 minutes each) instead of one long video?

When I'm consuming a product I personally prefer one long video, but I'm thinking I might be in the minority.

So my question is...

For a video product that is 1 hour in length, would you prefer a single 1 hour video or 12 videos around 5 minutes each?

    Hi,

For me, I prefer many small one. You have to remember that people have a very short intention span. It's easier to concentrate on a short video that on a long one.

Personally I would prefer the smaller length videos. Watching an hour long video can cause people to lose attention, depending on the subject matter/how heavy the information is.

I'm guessing this is what what people are going to prefer, but I'm still curious if anyone else has any opinions?

Definitely definitely 12 5 minute videos that you give seperate titles for so the user knows what info is in each vid.

I dont mind either way to be honest. As long as there is a pause button there I cant really see the difference. The only thing about having 1 long video is that you will want to have something interesting or positive to start with. If your intro is slow or boring and people see the 58.47 (or whatever time it is) total time in the bottom corner, then they are probably gonna think 'I dont fancy watching an hour of this crap' and are likely to switch off straight away.

      Great points!

Another possible issue with a one hour video is that if a customer wants to go back and review a portion of the content with the shorter videos they just have to find the specific video they are looking for instead of trying to find the exact spot in the long video with the content they are after.

Keep em 'bite size' so they are easy to digest.

Human concentration isn't very long.. someone once told me that we can only stay focused on one thing for about 10 mins at a time. I've also read that it's anywhere up to 45 minutes. I don't know if it's true or not.

My own vids are fairly short, between 5 - 20 mins.

    That's my advice anyway.

I like to keep things straight to the point... for example if the product is about.. building premium wordpress themes, there's a fair bit of ground to cover but can be taught in about an hour or two long video.

So I look at the very first step, opening photoshop and making the right dimensions of the layout. Nothing else is in that video, only setting up the layout.

Plus this way you have plenty of sample content to send out or put on youtube to draw more leads into your funnel.

Definitely shorter length simply for the reason Mick stated.. The shorter the video, the easier the information is to digest.

    Hi Ryan

Interesting you brought this up, because I just had this question pop in my head a few days back.

Anyways here are my thoughts, for Module type courses, I would prefer each modules to be in a separate video rather than combined into one BIG video file. This is so I could always return to that specific video if in case I need to watch it again. A

However for interviews or coaching type products, I don't mind at all if it exceeds an hour or so. I;'ll grab a drink and watch it as if I'm watching a movie kinda thing.

After years of doing video I know for a fact that most people like them broken up. My research bears it out. And I personally like them broken up in some logical fashion. Something like book chapters.
