How much traffic is needed for a Niche website

Hi Everyone,

I'm doing some research on a few Niches that i am interested at and I was wondering what is the minimum "exact" searches i need for a particular keyword to make it worth-while?

Is there a formula like a minimum of 1K search per month or something that i can work with?

Help is much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Jonathan

Depends on the niche really. For example, you can get a niche site off the ground and into profitability simply relying upon niche related forums.

As for a "magic" number for search traffic, it doesn't really exist. Sure you could argue that anything with over 2000 [exact] searches would be profitable, but then again, if its NOT a buyer keyword the site could easily fall flat on its face in terms of monetization.

I've built sites around topics that didn't have much search demand, but had huge communities around them that I could use for promotion.

It really depends on two things: how targeted the traffic is and your conversion rates. It's totally possible to have a page that gets a lot of traffic to a page that doesn't convert. It's equally possible to get less traffic that's super-targeted to a page that converts like crazy. Different pages will have different conversion rates and different times. It's just a part of the game.

Sorry for my ignorance, but when you were saying niche related forums, what do you mean?

For example, if i am targeting a keyword eg: how to create a blog, do i then need to go search for forum relating to that? So you will basically promote your services on those forums?

Easy! Use the following search operator in Google.

      Keyword + Forums

So if your keyword is, Car Audio, your operator would look like this:

      Car Audio + Forums

Simply replace Car Audio with your own keyword and watch the magic happen.

When you're building niche sites it's really all about the competition for the keywords example you don't want to focus on think that's got too much competition because you only want to spend a limited amount of time making and ranking a small niche sites.

As far as traffic is concerned it all really depends on how well the traffic converts to how much you're going to need for example I had a website that got over 450 visitors a day in the breast enlargement niche but I was lucky if I made three sale a month from that site the traffic just didn't convert no matter what I tried.

But then I have another website that gets around 5 to 10 people a day and I can make around $600 a month out of that site which doesn't really sound a lot but when you consider it only took me a day to write the content and create the site and another day to do the seo work to rank the site its not a bad return.

With small niche sites the best thing to do is just get out there and start making them you're soon learn what keywords will make you money and which ones Won't and unfortunately its not something that I can explain in a forum post its just something you learn from experience you kind of get a instinct for what keywords will work and which ones won't.

Like I said you want to find low competition keywords because you don't want to be spending more than five days building and rank a small niche website and this way you can produce quite a few of them so it doesn't matter if the odd one isn't successful.

What they mean by promoting on related forums is this here is an example of one of the niches I used to work in.

It was the seo niche now what you need to do is find a few forums for seo and join those forums and in your signature promote your product or service to do with in this case seo.

Then all you need to do is be an active member of the forum help others with problems that they are having and generally provide useful information.

When I did this I roughly make around 30 posts a day which seems a lot and it is but once you find a forum that converts well for you it can be very profitable.

You cant base it off the simple parameters that you mentioned. You have to analyze your competition, your price, your backend products, continuity products, market potential... and whether or not a few keywords are worth building a business around.

You got it right there. It's all come down to testing, testing and testing. Nothing more reliable than doing your own experiment.

Don't post your keywords, ideas, domain names you consider to buy and niches you're into here on this forum. Very bad idea. Some opportunists might steal them from you.

there is many scientific methods to make an educated guess if a niche venture will be profitable. I like to at least see if there is 5,000 exact matches and how competitive it is. Zero competition is good but then again it's quite possible their is no competition because it's not a profitable niche.
