Hi,

When I started to learn about IM about 1 1/2 month ago I did it so I could make decent enough income to quit my dayjob and have more time for my family.
But recently I have started to doubt that decision. I have not made any money so far, but I know that it takes time to earn some income.

But the worst part is that when I'm not working I'm trying to get my IM carreer going. So I spend less time with my family than before and gain nothing from it.

So my question is. Is it worth it to spend your extra time on IM even if it takes a year or more?

Regards,
Heimir...

    Hi, Heimir,

There are more people selling books on making money on the internet than there are people who have made money on the internet.
Like any major carreer change, sacrifices will have to be made as you learn your new trade but I'm afraid most people have to give up because they don't find someone trustworthy to train them and gradually run out of money and enthusiasm.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

So I should try to find someone to tutor me?
And stay away from the "make money online" market.

As someone that's already gone through the gauntlet of the online business learning and action curve and is now full time, I can give you a resounding "yes" to your question.

    But...

    - You've got to crawl before your can walk.

    - You've got to be serious about this business.

    - You may have to spend time away from your family initially so that you can spend more time with them later.

    - Perhaps you should explore other markets besides offering how to make money stuff to others?

    - If that's your site, you obviously know how to slap up a page/site.

    - It looks like you're into the affiliate model.

    - Perhaps you should explore other markets besides offering how to make money stuff to others - since IMHO it's 10X easier for someone like yourself to make good money on other markets.

    - It would help your cause if you would become a master of traffic generation.

You're on the right track - do not give up so easily.

    Hope This Helps!!

      Thanks,

Yes this is my site and a have a couple of other similar to this in other markets.
But I get no traffic to them and as you said I should probably try to learn more about traffic generation.

Does anyone recommend the Traffic Generation Lab available on the forum?

Gather some more informations on how does it really work. Either find a mentor for guidance or read more about IM topics. Self tutorials or having a mentor can help you have better idea on what you really want.

    Hi Heimir,

I can totally empathise with where your head is at!

I started back in August 2008 online and for many months asked myself " is this worth it?" I had the added problem that I was doing it full time having lost my job due to the recession!
I can now say that yes it is worth it. The lifestyle and freedom that this arena gives you is second to none. Now, dont get me wrong! I am not yet earning as much as I was when I had a job, but I have gained so much more in terms of my life with my family.

... (accidentally clicked the return key!!!!)

You have to treat this as a Business, and lets face it any Business takes time to get up, running and making money.

Keep going, and I wish you well
