Facebook Advertising Help / Tips

New to running FB ads. This is only my second attempt. Could use some tips. I tested two ads saw which one produced higher. Went with that- realized I should have added a Free video after the fact it was a small test here are the end results. It's for an ebook. So two questions- Suggestions on resources that I can learn more or anything you can share to help?

I probably need to do an additional squeeze page I have a sales page for the book but a squeeze with video would probably work better can I use optimize press and just add it as a page on my blog? Or should I use something else with an email opt in to get the free video that leads to the book?

Thanks in advance for your help I have some great opportunities coming up and want to learn to capitalize on the momentum in addition to the ones I've already had.

What made you decide to advertise on Facebook? Are you familiar with GM pulling their ads from FB because of it being ineffective or the recent story about of the small start-up Limited Run and their claims of 80% of their clicks being bots? Personally, I've never clicked an ad from Facebook.

The GM thing was big news, but since that news they've come back. In fact, the guy at GM responsible for pulling the FB ads, Joel Ewanick, was recently made to resign.
Ewanick may be best remembered for GM's decision to pull the plug on Facebook advertising right before Facebook's initial public offering. Though GM maintains a series of Facebook pages for its brands, the move was viewed as skepticism on GM's part over the effectiveness of Facebook ads. Since then, however, GM has said it plans to return to Facebook ads.

I'm not a big Facebook ad-CLICKER myself, but other people are, and they are effective. One recent FB ad I ran for just a short period got me about 1000 Likes and 100 opt-ins. Great thing about FB ads is the targeting you can do.

Nice. I appreciate the info. I didn't have very much luck with FB and threw in the towel shortly after hearing about the GM situation. I'll reconsider diving in deeper in the future.

Are you currently using Optimize Press? (just curious)

First, data I've seen (I don't have the source handy right now) shows that Facebook ads that keep people WITHIN Facebook convert higher than those that take people outside FB. So I'd recommend that whatever squeeze page you use reside in FB as a tab/app. It can be created in WordPress (your probably already know this) but is pulled into a FB iframe.

Second, what's your goal? To convert to sell the ebook immediately, or to get email addresses? (I'd go for the email address first, and try to sell through either an OTO or an upsell and continued email marketing.) If sales if your goal, your sequence might be: FB ad, to squeeze page (in FB) that has either introductory text or video and pre-sells the ebook, with a link to the sales page. If email's your goal, then the ad leads to the opt-in squeeze page that offers the free video. Once at the video, you now have their email address and after they watch the video they can still continue on to the sales page.

    Hope that helps some!
