adf.ly will alter Aweber forms!

A lot of people will know this already but I thought I'd give the heads up regardless as I've ran into this problem many times whilst working on client sites.

Many people have made the mistake of using adf.ly in the past as a source of traffic. As we're aware the traffic pulled in by adf.ly tends to be low quality, non-converting junk. Most people learn their lesson and move on, however few realize that this sudden surge of traffic which is suspiciously from the same or handful of IP's trips an automatic switch with Aweber which turns single opt-in forms to double opt-in as a security measure against bots.

Whilst this might not appear to be a huge problem, there are many people who do stand by having single opt-in to capture (arguably less dependable) emails more effectively, but a large number of people are unaware that their forms have actually been tripped into double opt-in due to sending a surge of such traffic.

If you've used adf.ly or anything similar and you depend upon single opt-in it's a wise idea to run through the opt-in process yourself to check that things are functioning as they should be. Needless to say, it's a good rule of thumb to do this regularly regardless.
