Amazon: possible protection from "serial refunders" - a good thing

I'm looking into using the new "Checkouts by Amazon" service, which looks great.

Fortunately I've got a less than 2% lifetime refund/cb rate from my business; one thing I like however is Amazon's "5 refunds maximum per lifetime provision", here:

https://payments.amazon.com/sdui/sdu...to-z-Guarantee

Note it says:
"Buyers are limited to a lifetime maximum of five claims for purchases from Amazon Marketplace or Merchant seller on the Amazon.com website."

And That is likely good protection from fraudulent serial-refunder type buyers, since they can only make 5 refund claims lifetime max per person.

Anyone have any experience using Amazon checkouts? Looks like it would be a super idea since it lets people use their existing amazon accounts to buy things. I'll be testing it out myself later this year. Any early adopters have feedback?

thx,

ken

Actually, that is not quite true. The 5 lifetime claims counts only those refund requests that were denied or ignored by the seller. It counts only those claims where the buyer needs to go to Amazon to get their money back. Most sellers refund legitimate refund requests before it gets to that point.

I know the buyers who ask sometimes for a refund even after a year :p
and if someone has fallen to that level of asking for a refund,
then he can make a duplicate account to keep purchasing for 'refunds'.

    Thanks

"Amazon refunds" a sore topic with me! As a large volume amazon seller I get a few requests for refunds every month. I am guessing about 1 in 4 are legitimate requests, the rest are people who know they can blackmail the seller into giving a refund by leaving negative feedback. It's a rotten system but I view the refunds as part of the cost of doing business. FYI if someone leaves you negative feedback, ask them if they would like a refund (no strings attached), after providing refund, let them know you did, then politely ask if they would consider removing the negative comments. They can completely delete the feedback. If they won't, I suggest you leave an "answer" comment, explaining your side of the transaction

eBay is actually changing so buyers that are hostage takers can be banned for doing that sort of thing. I know I had a hostage taker about a week or so ago. I wrote eBay and the negative feedback was gone in a couple of hours without giving the buyer a refund. On eBay I see more buy it and not pay for it type people than I do refunders some of them will even bid on the same item once it is relisted.

It is always a burning question how to prevent serial refunders. I personally did not experience with any refunding yet as I work really hard for my digital product and it makes my clients satisfied.
