Creating a WSO--Use Video or No?

Fellow Warriors,

I'm in the process of creating my first WSO, and I'm trying to figure out whether to use a video sales letter or stick with the more traditional style?

I understand that video converts better overall, but is that true when it comes to a WSO. I have done a ton of research but couldn't find much info in this regard.

    Stephen,

To me it shouldn't be a case of this OR that.

Use them in conjunction with one another and you should do well.

It's hard to do any meaningful split testing on the Warrior Forum because we only have bb code to work with. If outside of the WSO forum then I would be telling you to test a few variations and allowing your market to tell you what they prefer.

    Hi Stephen,

I think videos in WSO thread are a good thing, provided you are honest with people and if you include any income claims in the sales thread and are able to prove them in the video, that's good.

Of course, there are video income proof scams out there, but if you are honest and can prove it on a camera, that's great. It improves conversion rates, definitely.

The same goes with videos on JV pages, "marketing tools" pages, JV invite pages or even personalised videos that you send to potential JV partners - Videos work well and if you are sincere, people can feel it.

Are there any studies out there that if I include a video in the WSO sales letter it converts better? I guess I really meant, should I Leave it out or include it...looking to maximize conversions the best I can.

For the record, I'm a few months away from launching it...just want to do it right.

Thanks for answering Will...I see you have a lot of experience in the forum and In IM, so I trust your judgement!

Steve, I'm not sure you will find any studies just because as we have mentioned, it's near impossible to run a proper split test on the WSO forum because we can't use the appropriate tools due to the limitation of BB code.

If it were me, I would most definitely include the video. I really can't see it having a negative impact.

Thanks, I'm making the transition form offline marketing to Online and communicating face to face or over the telephone is so ingrained in me...Seems like it will be hard to give up when making the transition to Online marketing.

Although I have never used video to talk to my customers, i will certainly give it a go...If what I'm trying to relay comes out poorly, I can always scrap it in favor of just the traditional sales copy.

Thanks again to the both of you, I have read quite a bit in these forums and noticed you guys are well respected around here!

          Ahh don't worry Stephen.

You'll often find those videos that aren't all cut and polished do better than those that are. Showing people you are a real person who isn't perfect can add a sense of authenticity to your sales message.

So don't be too worried about making a Hollywood grade production. Instead concentrate your effort on coming across as a genuine person with a genuine product.

            That makes sense!!

            **Sidenote**

As a test, couldn't I just upload a Video sales letter as a WSO...then add some copy, graphics, price, offer, etc the same...then duplicate that exact pitch on my website (minus the video) and send equal amount of (targeted) traffic to that of the Warrior forum.

Would that be a fair test as to what performed better? Now I'm sure I'm missing something or people before me would have done this already...My curiosity gets the best of me here

As Will said, it's hard to do any split-testing on the WF - there's simply no way for us.

You can try selling your product elsewhere (via Clickbank/Digiresults/similar) and do send the same kind of traffic to both versions - with and without a video. If your traffic sample is large enough, you can see for yourself what works better.

I think it also depends on your reputation on the forum and how much people trust you on here and what kind of product it is.

really depends on how you want to give your message. video, i think, has a higher perceived value than a regular ebook. not to say, i havent seen any ebooks do well because i have, but i think video allows your customers to get to know you and hear your voice.

Although there doesn't seem to be much data - there is quite a bit of research around learning styles i.e. covering why, what, how, what if. My gut tells me that if you put a video up front that covers the 'why' then you will get a significant number moving on to the what, how and what if from the sales letter elements. But I would certainly use both video combined with sales letter to cover those people who prefer visual vs. audio vs. text.

    Best of luck

I barely ever waste time looking at a video. I think the message is better spread it short sharp concise points. Get the buyer buying, not thinking (To be blunt)

I'm a fanatical reader...and in my research, I've been coming across two schools of thought...some say don't put a video in your WSO..and others, like here, say Go ahead and put in it (all well respected marketers)....

I understand videos can build and help with credibility, which makes sense to me..they can also stimulate certain learning mechanisms, which again makes sense...idk

It makes me want to do 2 WSO's with the same product...same offer, same day release..one with a video and one without.. and test them...I wonder if that is acceptable to the Warrior forums rules?
