Went on Vacation & came back with more money than I left with!

I intended on posting this 3 weeks ago... Better late than never.

About a month ago I took my son on vacation during the last few days of summer vacation. On our second day of vacation, we found a local shop that sells fossils & minerals. My 8 year old is obsessed with anything dinosaur related, so we spent quite a lot of time checking everything out. The owner of the store see's my son's intrigue and comes over to talk with us.

He showed us every fossil my son requested to see and eventually he asked about where I was from, and what I did. I replied "Actually, I work with small businesses owners just like you." I told him I build custom websites, and help businesses generate more customers online. He smiled, and said that he is in the process of hiring a web designer to create a website for his business to sell across the country.

At that point, I didn't even have business cards with me! Because I was on vacation... So i wrote down my web address, email & cell phone. I told him to check out my website, and that I would love to help him build something amazing. I bought a T-rex tooth & another fossil and we left the store.

He called me the next day & said he definitely wants to work with me. He sent his deposit & we started on the website the next week. I ended up making more money than I spent on our vacation. Just happened to be in the right place in the right time, and a little lucky.

I thought it was going to be about passive income rather than offline marketing, but nice story Matt. I love fossils too. Have a few, cut and polished, laying about the place. They make very interesting ornaments I find.

Agreed. Holding something that is 150 million years old is just crazy to wrap your head around. We have 3 pieces now, and they now have a cool display case.

OH! I forgot to mention, the business owner was so pleased he gave me a $200 store credit My son was SO happy to hear that lol.
