Membership Sites - Content Development

How can I go about finding and developing content for a membership site (any workable niche), without being an expert on the topic?

For those of you that are doing this, do you seek out partnerships or outsource this? Are you using PLR?

Although there would be more involvement, I would like to have a forum because I believe it can be most beneficial for my members and for the long-term, continuity factor. Would JV'ing with one person be enough, starting out? Should I avoid JV'ing and just hire professionals?

Thanks.

I would recommend choosing a topic you have an interest in as this will make it much easier on you when you research the topic.

For my first membership site (golf niche) I spoke to my own golf coach and explained what I wanted to do. I offered to give him 50% of the profits for all the sales we made in return for some videos of him giving his expert coaching.

The only thing this cost me up front was a few cups of coffee and our time.

If you're not too bothered about which niche you work in, then you should speak with some of your friends and see if they're experts in any field...then work together.

    Hope that helps
    cheers

Nice work! Did you have a forum? If so, was your friend involved?

    Thanks.

Steve provided a good model of how to get content! Doing interviews, or finding an 'expert'.
The content creation for a membership site is not different than any other product. The only exception being the addition of community (forums etc.)

I'm also actively looking for experts in specific niches to partner up with. (non-im)

    Thanks, David.

Any reason why you're steering clear of IM-related experts?
