Constructive Criticism

Hey fellow warriors , i just launched a sister website to my main Mystery Box company: BootyBin.com basically a mystery box service for geeks and gamers.

Can you guys take a look at the site and give me some feedback... positive or constructive criticism? Just looking to get a fresh set of eyes on it The site is active and already signing up members but always looking to improve things. Cheers

First of all, your forgot to put the .com in your link

But once I arrived to the page, I couldn't help but notice how "enjoyable" your website looks.

The layout, the colors, the social proof on top showing that others like the site.

The big ass Join in the middle with the graphic is great.

In terms of design and look ... lovin it!

      Same here...

You forgot to add .com in the hyperlink (in this thread) that leads to your website's homepage.

I really like it, seems really trustworthy for a reason I can't tell.

What you might like to work on is the fact that your social media buttons are semi-covered by the chat-box when displayed on smaller screens or minimized browser windows. Not something that might affect the website's performance, but definitely something that would keep an OCD victim like me up all night.

    Cheers!

I was just chatting with the OP on his site.

first off, like others mentions. you need to fix the link in your OP and add the ".com" to your link.

like someone else mentioned, your live chat does partially cover your social media links which is not going to help your conversions there are all. Not a big deal to fix either.

now, from a marketing perspective we have a few areas of opportunity as i see things.

first of all, i sure would like to see some testimonials from people before i signup for a $30 a month service. I know this is probably new and you don't have any/many customers yet, but you would do well to give a few memberships away and get some feedback / testimonials. Even short trials or something, just to get the ball rolling.

I would also think some sort of free gift with an ecover to add perceived value would drastically increase your newsletter signup conversions. Right now, you have given me no compelling reason to "pay" you for anything with my email address. Give me a reason to do that if you want me on your list. The coupon offer could be so much more "real" with a $5 fiverr ecover type picture of a coupon.

overall, the site design is good. I like it. But I might also add another Join button or small section to the bottom of the page below the 3 text blocks. From an eye tracking perspective you are getting people to look down there, but then what. it just ends. another call to action at the bottom might not be a bad thing.

Now, from a business perspective I am seeing low conversion rates in your future. Memberships are fairly tough to sell. have you thought maybe about some sort of lower cost trial to get people into your system and trusting you? obviously i don't know your business costs and such and whether or not thats feasible, but it might not be a bad move to take little to no profit on month 1 to get more people to signup.

from a design and usability stand point, I am not a big fan of the fact that when i click "the proccess" and the "contact us" link from the home page it appears as if nothing changes unless the user scrolls down the page. Thats not what users expect to happen, so they are most likely not going to feel all warm and fuzzy about it. I understand you wanted your main graphic call to action to be the center of attentions still, but right now you are doing so at the cost of usability in my view and thats probably not good.

also, on that contact page. I want to see some contact info. You want me to pay you $30 a month for a bag of yet to be determined stuff, but you don't provide an address or phone number. Thats probably not going to help your conversion rates either.

Hope i wan't to tough on you. I think you have a solid foundation, but a there are certainly some areas of opportunity.

Travlinguy said "without knowing exactly what I'll be getting is a pretty big stretch." and that's exactly what I think. To convince people to buy, they need to know exactly what they are getting, and why they should get it. Basically you'd want to provide more value information to them, keep in mind the kind of audience/traffic you have.

I don't know much about this niche. People may already be very passionate and coming to a site like this may get them all pumped up, so the above is my suggestion based on looking at your site.

You said the site is up and people are signing up to it now. If you're already getting the traffic, then you need to do tracking to know which traffic converts for you. Then only can you scale things up.

      Hope that helps!

I don't know. It's visually appealing. But to me the notion of paying $29/mo. without knowing exactly what I'll be getting is a pretty big stretch. I guess I'd have to ask how your mysterybox site is doing.

I would remove the chat box that appears. I would put up a better headline. I would clearly state what a "booty bin" is (unless your niche folks already knows what it is), and include a hover ad to instantly capture more subscribers.
