Domain name suggestor ?

How do you guys usually pick your domain names, be it EMD or unique name ?

DO you have a domain name schema to make the names ?

I must be either very unlucky or with no imagination because everytime I research and find good keywords the domains are never available so I am looking for some ideas on how to mix up the keyword or to come up with nice unique names for a given niche, etc.

Any advices, ideas are very welcome!

I don't like EMDs. I use Domain Name Search | Register Your Domain Name Now for new domains or search in Godaddy (Pretty satisfied with results).

My criteria for new domains -
-English words, 2 or 3 englishwords .com, words that are easier to spell
    - I try to have keywords in domain name

If keyword is xyz abc, Then I prefer xyzabc[another word].com

another word = Words like hunt, find, assist etc. at end of keyword so that it becomes a complete phrase (2-3 words)

This word can be added at beginning or end of keywords depending upon how good it sounds and how easy to spell.

For expired/to be dropped domains I use GoDaddy Auctions.(Small Annual Fee - $6, but you can get valuable domains. Just search the keyword in Godaddy auctions account, copy the domain and use domaintools.com to analyze website age, history, traffic etc.)

There are some tools to see highly ranking expired domains, but they come for more $$.

I pretty much use the same criteria for registering a domain name, but this last part was very interesting and informative I will give it a try sounds pretty good.

I've seen Dmoz listed 10+ yrs niche related domains auctioned at Godaddy for about 100 bucks. Trick is to find sites those cost about 12$ (start bid for auction) and $5 (close out domains available to purchase).

Also you've to pay renewal fees for the acquired domains. Tip is to use discount coupons to save 20-30% off entire order.
