Press releases - traffic from them? Case study

Hello! I wonder if anyone can report good traffic from press releases.
Here is a sample:
thepressreleasesite.com
this is a site fo member.
Site has got 190k alexa and obviously it has got good traffic like 10-20k visits per day.
And this site is getting around 5% of traffic from Press release sites.
So, I wonder how much did she (Dana - member - owner of this site) submit press releases to get such a result? I think its almost 1000 visits per day from PR sites only and that is big.
So, I wonder does anyone here have numbers? The traffic amount from Press release sites?
I dont mean ranking the press releases, I mean constant flow of traffic coming from PR sites, because these sites got mostly very high traffic themselves - like prlog.org - 1500 alexa, prweb - 1500 alexa.
I wonder to hear you experience.

    The traffic on these pr sites could mostly be from people posting press releases themselves ha. PR log works well..but the best is pr web. Sorry i dont know the specific numbers.

    Press release work great (as part of an overall traffic strategy). Press release anything newsworthy. Stick the the free press release sites. Bottom line: I wouldn't rely only on press releases but use them in your campaign to announce a new website, product release etc. cheers

    Yeah , I also support PRWEB which it help o submit our press release to those high PR and high traffic site but with paid and it not guarantee to be post up unless the content is real attractive and quality and able to categories in top highlighted news.

    free press releases - waist of time.

    PRWEB, webwire and other good pr site - Excellent.

    badly written press release, or crappy spun article - you are waisting your time.

    Well written press release that is news worthy and link bait-ish - EXCELLENT!

    I do press releases every few days, and we get a retired journo to write them, and the RESULTS are awesome.

    I have gotten good results from these but I have also been ripped. I do not do my own so I hire someone to write and then to send.

    Your release needs to follow guidelines and then your sender needs to send them to the right places.

    So you just have to research and don't do fiverr for that either.

    To answer your question, we recently did an infographic for our Social Metrics Pro blog. After posting the infographic, we run a Press Release campaign. Result was pretty good.

    This is the result:

    I'd say it's a successful campaign driving great traffic, social signals, referrals and most importantly, sales.

    I recommend using press release as a part of SEO strategy if its a new website. I have used it for one my previous website (which I sold for a good amount) and it did well. I got a good quality press release from one the lesser known but a professional PR writer on WF and it was distributed to news sites. It helped me get few clients and added traffic after a few weeks. So, I think it worked for me.

    I remember when press releases were made for the press... so they would write stuff about you.

    If you start thinking like that again, your press releases will have a much greater impact.

    How about doing your own case study. Perhaps a combination of PR sites and an aggregator such as socialoomph.com. Daniel's infographic post is awesome.
