Which hosting company do you use?

I am planning to change hosting company as I am getting real security issues on my sites that need to be resolved and aren't being.

Hostgator seem OK with my current research.

Does anyone recommend anything else?

I am looking for something as secure as possible, easy to use and good accessible tech support.

Thanks

John

I've been with Hostgator for about a year and have had zero problems. I've only got about a dozen small sites, so I'm not pushing any bandwidth limits, though.

Their tech support department has given me several hours of private tutoring on cPanel, so I don't hesitate to rave about them when given the chance!

Good luck, and hope this helps

i use a local company called Afrihost. their servers are located in Dallas for better bandwidth costs.

their rates are not the lowest, but the service is great, compared to what i had before

I just switched from GoDaddy to Hostgator. Much faster, but I'm still getting my head around the C-Panel. I've never had a need to contact tech support for either, so I can't comment on that.

Although the good thing about GoDaddy was the Google features they had built in.

I just switched all my domains except one or two to hostgator. ( I have one being hosted at namecheap. )

I use HostMonster, IceStorm and HostGator.

I would put them in that order as well...based on uptime, support and features.

Hostgator is definitly the way to go.

Bandwidth should not be a consideration, since you will have more than enough for most uses.

                          Things to consider:

                          SQL database connections allowed.

                          SQL database size/limits

Mod-Rewrite enabled (Required for many scripts to function)

                          Support/ chat support

                          Cpanel available

                          processor limits.

In my year with hostgator, none of these have been an issue.

                          Best!

I use Hostgator and haven't ever had a problem with them (in about 2 years). I tried Host Excellence when I first got into IM though and they were quite good too - great support.

Maybe a simple question, but does having my site hosted at certain companies affect the speed of the site that much?

I don't know how all this works.

Hi John, I've been using D9 Hosting for the past 7 months and their service is superb to say the least! It's run by 2 marketer's from the UK, Dan Thompson and Paula Brett!

If you ever get stuck with a problem, then just ask away and they'll probably have it sorted quicker than you can thank them!

I used hostgator. So far no problem.

I just have an incident that my site was down for a while. I contacted the support which misdiagnosed the problem. He was asking me to do some editing to the database settings which I had no idea how to do it. I panicked.

Luckily, I didn't do anything at all and the site was back online after 10 mins.

Im not sure what may have happened if I have listened to the advice of the hostgator staff then. :_(

I just hosted at startlogic. The support has not much tecg experience. they cannot fix a small bug: php scripts hosted there cannot send emails to tahoo/hotmail accounts and they don't know athing what to do. I am considering leaving if they cannot get it to work. I don't wnat my users to complain that they cannot activate their accounts because they have not received their emails.

If you are using hostgator, can you confirm that php hosted there can send emails to external email accounts such as yahoo, hotmail, etc..? If confirmed, I'll switch.

One more thing though, I heard that sites hosted at hostgator are not accessible from China. If you wanted to develop sites that may someday penetrate that market, keep this in mind though.
