When it comes to twitter it is about getting people to follow you and grabbing attention very quickly. Read up on email subject lines that sell for a good start because it relates directly. also keep your tweets short and to the point. Have your tweets point back to your website or blog and have people a way to retweet your blog entries. The secret is to have stuff that is relevant to what is trending or popular and relate it someway to what you are doing. Giving things away for free is a great way to gain a following as well.

    1. Follow people of your niches, the more you follow the better.
    2. Soon, people will be following you..
    3. Re-tweets to create relationship
    4. Harvest the traffic upon creating a huge list.. Viral is the key!!

Make use of Twitter Search tool, search for your target group of people.

Example: Search for people who would like to buy a dog book

Twitter search: "Buy dog book ? -RT"

Once you have found those people communicate with them but don't spam them with links if you want to have a long term releationship - instead be helpful

If you mean paid traffic, Twitter has an ads program to advertise in their site. You need to create a profile specially for your niche, contribute to the community, follow and accept followers, and you will get some decen traffic. There are some Twitter software in the WSO section that are worth a try at least.

I just checked and I have 113 followers on my 2nd twitter account and 25 on my first twitter account.

Is that a shabby amount of followers? I post on both of them randomly. Am I wrong here? Is this amount of followers any good?

But my niche is very small. How do I find people in my niche? Is there some kind of search?

Ok, how many followers can I do per day so its not considered spam? I am using a tool that is making my life much easier. But I also don't want to get the boot by T.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm using a 3rd party tool to easily follow people but I would like to know what's the max I should follow per day? Is 200 ok?

This is another overrated traffic source. I have over 68k followers and it does produce some traffic, but that's mostly it. People aren't using Social Media to generally buy affiliate products. If you have a blog that needs traffic and people to share your content, that is most favorable for twitter.

Not saying that you shouldn't use twitter, but for traffic - you're better of doing things like adswaps, solo ads, media buys etc - the tried and tested traffic sources. Twitter is more for personal branding and networking with others, and the traffic is far lower with facebook also

        Agreed.

I have close to 100,000 twitter followers and yes, I get traffic to my blogs, but I think the traffic is poor quality. Actually, I sometimes think the 1,200 followers I have on Myspace are more valuable than my 100,000 Twitter followers...

Another trick is to do a tweet swap with another marketer in your niche to drive traffic and build your own twitter following. Just agree for each business to tweet content about the other similar to ad swaps.

In my opinion to get traffic from twitter or
any other social media site you need to interact
with twitter users! Let them know that you are
real person and that you care about what they
    have to say.

You can also retweet tweets you find interesting!
    Sharing is caring!

You can first build your followers list according to your target niche. Once you have enough followers who does actually visit your link for valuable information then surely you are doing it right. Then slowly start promoting your targeting links but do not start it straight away but putting promotional offer. Start with interesting new topic.

I'll second what Terrence said. Twitter isn't going to bring you massive traffic, and the quality's not going to be great, but it doesn't do any harm building yourself profile and doing a bit of networking on there.

Here's a blog post on twitter that I wrote recently. It should give you a few good ideas.
