Blog On or Off Business Site

Hello,

Wow! My FIRST post on the warrior forum. SWEET!

I have my own graphic design business. I am looking to blog because I believe it will be great addition to my business. I would like to obtain more client, as well as, monetize the blog (later on).

I am in the process of deciding on whether to have the blog on my companies site or have the blog hosted somewhere else. (ex. www.mysite (dot) com/blog vs www.blogsite (dot) com )

What are the benefit of having it on my site? I want to be to narrow the niche of blog down. I'm sure there are hundreds of graphic design blogs. I feel as though, that if I have it on my business site that I might have to be more broad, which I don't want. Should I focus on solving problems that potential clients might have?

Anyone have any success hosting a blog on business your site? Would you know of any examples of successful business blogs? I would love to see some examples!

Thanks,

Brandon

You've got to self-host it, no brainer.

You want all the control you can get!

Would rather own a car or lease one? But the catch is they are the same price upfront... Free!

Check out Wordpress it is great!

Self Hosting is particular the best, I would prefer word press platforms... It does not hurt to join other popular blogging platforms like Squidoo : Welcome to Squidoo which is great for networking and building traffic. You might want to stop there and see how others are blogging...

I currently use WordPress for my current site.

I guess the next step would deciding on the niche. It just seems Graphic Design is already a highly competitive niche.

I'd say have it on your site. The advantages are:
    * You are already getting traffic.
    * You don't need to worry about sending traffic from your site to your blog or vice versa.
    * It adds a personal aspect to your site, which provides trust.
    * It's automatically ranked.
    * The 2 parts of the site are beneficial to each other.
    * There are no additional costs or set up.
