Is it worth buying OptimizePress for just one single sales letter?

I'm making a one-time sales letter for an ebook of mine, and have researched the forum for the best WP theme to use; without a doubt, OptimizePress looks like a winner. However, is it really worth the price considering I will only be using it to write a single page for a sales letter (I'm not interested in having other sales letters or more sites with more sales letters)? I've been researching for other options and it seems as though WP Thesis (free) and no sidebars plus the designed Buy Now buttons could work just as well.

I understand the value of OP for actual IMers who want to create several sales letters/opt-in pages etc, but for someone who only wants to use it to create one sales letter, is $97 justified? It doesn't help that the site to purchase OP doesn't have details about the functionality of the theme. Can I have blogs running on OP and would it be a good functioning theme for a heavy trafficked blog too (+5000 uv/day)?

Thanks

Once you purchase it, you get lifetime access. So if you are not planning today to create other pages, maybe in 1 or 2 years you will need it. If you are 100% sure, that you won't use it in the future, then I don’t recommend you to buy it. You can build pretty the same sales pages using some free Theme. The purpose of OptimizePress is that you can build squeeze pages, sales pages, sales funnels (even without any programming skills) a lot easier and faster than traditional coding or other WordPress Themes.

I was using it for my membership site in the past and it was definitely worth the $97.

Update: I have setup a complete sales funnel today with OP and it all took me not more than 5 hours. Definitely worth the money!!!

  • I dont understand the need of Wordpress or OP for just a sales page.

You can get plenty of AWESOME sale page templates from Themeforest.

My thoughts exactly. Why use Wordpress at all?

If all you want is a single page sales letter, why not use straight html?

I'd go to a site like Open Source Web Design - Download free web design templates. and find a template I liked, then pay a graphics pro to provide any buttons, header images, etc. as a work for hire.

Unless you load too many large images, videos, etc., you end up with a very fast, very secure sales page.

    Thank you all!

Quick question, does OptimizePress allow for the text to be inserted/embedded as/in an image? I've seen people do this instead of have the text parsable/be able to be copied. Initially I thought of using Photoshop and writing the sales letter in like 3-4 images, but if OptimizePress allows for this, I would be inclined to buy it.

Or if you know some other way of having the text of the sales letter be embedded in an image, be very appreciated.

    Thanks again.

Not sure what you're asking here. Can you show an example?

OptimizePress makes setting up squeeze pages/sales pages hassle free. And you don't need to pay anybody else to do it and then have to accept whatever they produce if it's not exactly what you want.

It's a totally reasonable and worthwhile investment and you can create great looking marketing with it. Just my 2 cents. :-)

Why spend all that money for a product which may or may not sell?

It's a fair chunk of change.

Use a basic inexpensive page first and of your product sells then you can always update it later.

Get a page created for $27? And use the rest of your money to advertise the ebook.

You can get somebody to build and setup a sales page for you for less than $97. With that said, if you can't afford the $97, you probably don't have enough money to actually monetize. There's webhosting fees, software fees, setting up all sorts of stuff assuming you get to that point. Just being in the business has a minimum cost.

Optimize Press is best used when you have multiple sites and/or squeeze pages. Then the cost of the purchase becomes more justifiable.

Paying someone $30 or so to do a page for you may make more sense. The greatest reservation you would have in this situation is that in case you would later need to adjust your webpage (to increase conversions etc) you would then need to hire someone to do the adjustments. Of course this is moot if you have the knowhow to change the squeeze page when required.

Based off of your situation, I would say if you plan on making squeeze pages, more sales pages, and/or a membership site(s) in the near future, I would definitely consider getting OP. On the other hand, if all you want to do is just make one sales page, then I would take the advice above and just go the HTML route... or you could go the Wordpress route and get a free theme like the Responsive Theme.

    JMO.

    Hope that helps.

There is this cheap plugin by Robert Plan that lets you create sales pages within Wordpress without having to change your theme:

    Much cheaper than OptimizePress also.

Ha ha just got it for $7 bucks. Very clean and very cheap. You can add images etc including a header image.

Also good for 5 sites in total, so that's just over $1 per site.

Thanks for the heads up, Will. It's a bit nostalgic, but it wasn't that long ago when this template was and probably still is a proven converter.

    Hmmm...

What if that sells like hotcakes - wouldn't you be tempted to do it again?

I think that the answer to that depends upon your technical skills. It's not hard to create your own squeeze page, or if you need a leg up - a free template if it allows commercial use.

The benefit to optimizepress is if you're doing it often, or creating more than one squeeze page. Let me tell you - you need to create more than one squeeze page, as you don't know how effective the first one is until you test it against another variation, and another and so on. So to be successful you need to do this many times, now if that is a tough thing for you to do yourself, you need something effective like optimizepress.

      Thank you all!

This is my first time doing something of the likes. I wrote an ebook about my hobby and no other ebooks are around, which is why I've decided to sell it. Having said that, I'm trying to read as much as I can, and it looks as though Facebook doesn't allow you to advertise sales letters on Facebook ads, and instead it is best to use Facebook ads on squeeze pages? Can anyone confirm this? I remember reading this here in the WF recently.

Also, what I referred to with embedding images is what many people do on the WSO section. Basically, you embed the copy (i.e. tex) on an image so that neither search engines nor other people can grab your text. I've finished the sales letter, it's 10,000 words long LOL and I actually give some free advice too in the sales letter, so I'm not keen on other people stealing my advice, hence I thought posting the text in image captures (or something like that). Can OptimizePress do this, or are there any other programs/plugins available to do this?

I'm actually playing with the twenty eleven WP free theme, it actually looks good! Now I have to insert the Buy Now buttons.

I'm really tempted to buy OptimizePress especially if it is best that I send paid traffic to a squeeze page rather than the sales letter itself.

A better question would be 'Is it worth using Wordpresss for just one single sales letter?'

In which case the answer would be No!

Use HTML, its cheaper, easier, safer and uses less resources.

  • I used it multiple times in multiple niches for multiple products. Optimize press is the best, can't wait what Dyson has in version 2 but I'm getting it. The reason is I need membership area, a sales page and squeeze pages and I can do all of those in minutes! Even if outsourced and I want a change I can mess with it, with custom I can't. In any case that is why I like it, and so far I have not seen a better package. Optimize press has a few thing missing that I want but nothing is perfect.

I hear you with HTML and agree that it'd be the best option for a simple sales letter. However, I'd like to make use of Wordpress ease of use and ability to insert nice graphics and plugins. Likewise, I'm working real hard on delivering a successful copy and finishing up the book, so I rather go with Wordpress for this one occasion.

Anyone know about embedding the copy as an image? I see many people doing it in the WSO section, there must be a program for that. I tried downloading a Photoshop demo but after it downloaded the 1 gigabyte, it gave me an error

I'm going to suggest that if all you want is ONE page, don't even use Wordpress. Hire a freelancer to do all the graphics for you and convert to HTML. Get exactly what you want without the hassle of a database and all that other stuff.

If you hire a good designer in a low cost country, you'll probably pay a bit less than $100 anyway. If you buy OptimizePress, which IS a great product, you'll still need a banner designed, and you'll have to do a lot of tweaking on your own. Why bother when you can hire a designer for less and get more?

Thanks, my only worry would be the developer inserting some malicious coding in the page, especially if it is a developer from Fiverr/Odesk/cheap. You guys heard of this sort of thing happening with the outsourcing of pages?

You can do so much with optimize press. Its a great platform with things such as exit redirects and exit pop ups. Its going to be good to build yourself a couple of different pages so you can do a little split testing to get the best conversion rate. I would say its a well worth investment even if is is for just one site. Who know's you might just have so much fun you will decide to create another product some day.

I think I'm going to buy OptimizePress. By the looks of it, it is better to have a squeeze page instead of a sales letter if I want to do PPC traffic; apparently OP is great for squeeze pages, so I might as well spend the $97 since I'm going to be doing a SL and a SP. Big question though:

I've read that OptimizePress is going to have a newer version (2.0) soon. If I buy the current version, will I be able to upgrade to the newer version (2.0) for free/no cost when ir comes out? The page itself doesn't say anything about it.

    Many thanks

One thing though, when OP 2.0 comes out, the update will not be free. If I buy OP now, I'm stuck with it. I asked if OP current version will still be working long term but got no answer; it looks as though the current version won't be supported any more come the newer version. Which leads me to think, will I be able to keep using OP in say 1 year when Wordpress continues to upgrade itself?

I do ALOT of split testing on my offer pages and optimize press makes that pretty easy. You have to live within their templates - but even modifying them a little bit is not hard or time consuming if you have a basic understanding of PHP.

LOL, I'm still a newbie when it comes to IM as this is my first ebook and it is about a hobby. I have websites and make money quite a lot of money with Adsense alone, so never looked into other monetizing options.

One thing, for split testing, do you normally use 2 different domains (hosting each separately) or do you run 1 sales letter for X amount of time on a domain, then remove the sales letter and put another on the same domain for another X amount of time?

The only time I can think of that you would want to use two different domains would be if you were testing the domain name. In which case, the content would be identical.

For testing squeeze pages and sales letters, you want to alternate your two pages. Visitor 1 sees Option 1, Visitor 2 sees Option 2, Visitor 3 sees Option 1, and so on.

You want to test on the same traffic flow within the same time period, otherwise you can introduce unwanted (and unaccounted for) variables.

Let's look at a somewhat silly example: you sell calendars.

You run Salesletter A for 30 days in December. You run Salesletter B for 30 days in January. Your 'test' reveals that A far outsold B, but the results are very likely bogus, right?

1.0 Customers will be offered a discount I've heard when 2.0 comes out so you won't be losing any money by purchasing 1.0 at this time. It will equal out. I think 2.0 is going to be $197 and 1.0 customers will have the option to upgrade for $97. So you're not losing anything by buying now. You're essentially getting 2.0 for $168 if you buy 1.0 thru the warrior rebated link posted above.

After I started using OP, I never want to use any other theme. You can use it to create not only squeeze pages or sales pages, you can start a membership site or your own blog with this theme. So this is definitely a good long term investment. Very easy to use and churns out professional looking pages. Besides free themes come with their own set of problems.

Not for one sales letter no.
You can find free HTML tools if you hunt around online.
If you plan on building an IM business then OP is worth investing in.

Well, I got OP in the end. I've never looked much into IM; I've just written a lengthy ebook about a hobby and my sites make me good cash but through Adsense and because I drive good traffic. However, I'm getting some ideas the more I read, including the idea of a membership site, so I might as well go with OP.

Only fooling around with it, but so far like it. The sales letter I've written is huge and very detailed so I might as well get a theme that saves me a headache here and there.

If you are looking to setup a long term business Online, OptimizePress is a must for any Marketer. If you just require a simple sales page, as metioned above, html page will do you fine. But OP is the way.
