Meaning of Sales Rank for Amazon products?

I am a newbie in affiliate marketing. I am a little bit curious about Sales Rank of Amazon products. What does it really stands for?

    Hello Arif,

    "Amazon sales rank" is something like contest, each purchase of a book constitutes a vote. It is not an 100% accurate quantity sales, but only an approximate measure of where the book stands among all others on Amazon.

    The Amazon Best Sellers basically is a calculation based on Amazon.com sales, it is updated hourly to reflect recent and historical sales of every item sold on there. But too bad, for competitive reasons they said, Amazon generally does not publish the specific information to the public.
    Someone said, it is a a popularity contest, so it is stand for quantity of sales.

    The sales rank is how popular (how well it sells) the product is within it's category at Amazon. And once a product sell, it will become a product with a sales rank. So if a product don't have a sales rank, then it haven't sold once at Amazon.

      But there are tons of products have no Sales Rank with so many customer reviews.

        Yes. That's because you don't need to buy the product from Amazon in order to review it.
