How Do You Guest Post?

I'd love to start guest posting on some bigger sites in my niche (wouldn't we all . I have a product review site in the fitness niche.

If I come bearing gifts: 3 very well researched and written articles for free to the blog owner - do you think this will be enough reasonably to get published on their sites?

That's going to be hard to answer. Each blog owner is going to be different in what they want and IF they want guest posts.

What you could do is look at a blog you want to post on and see if it's thin in a specific area. Or they are covering A and C well but are not covering B well.

Then write an article that helps to fill a hole or thin spot on their blog. Submit it to them and see what they say.

  • Idealy you would want to approach the blog owner first, outlining your idea of what you'd like to submit. If he's agreeable then write your post in a similar style and length to other posts on the blog - as long as the content is of a high quality you shouldn't have any problem when it comes to getting the post accepted.

It's easier than first writing a guest post and then trying to find somewhere that it will be a good fit for - if you get my meaning.

You are a War Room member so read this thread. Great stuff discussing exactly what you are asking.

But basically yes, hit up blogs you want to target with 3 well written articles ready to go and you will find people who let you guest blog.

When researching blogs to approach, make sure they already accept guest posters (look for different guest authors) to increase your chances.

Since you are using guest posting to gain traffic to your own site or offer you need to make sure that the blog you post on has lots of traffic. The more traffic this blog has the more targeted people will read your article and the more traffic you will generate!

Why? I want to guest post on as many relevant blogs as possible: even the low-traffic ones are still extra traffic for me, some of which I wouldn't otherwise have got.

And for that matter how? You can't know what anyone else's traffic is, anyway.

I think it will on some, but not on others, probably. And the "some" will depend on exactly how you approach them. I do a lot of this, and if they help/interest you, my suggestions on how to approach site-owners are in this post: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7475055

Guest blogging is a best ways to build targeted traffic and well researched articles would work better, just use guest blogging platforms like myblogguest to target blogs or if you've no time to manage all, hire some guest bloggers.

I own a lot of sites and if someone emailed me a great article I almost always accept it even though some of my sites are not marked as accepting guest posts....If it passes copyscape and it is written in good english i hardly ever turn them down.

I guess what i am saying is that it is always worth a try because most site owners will consider accepting a guest post because it is little work for a big gain if the content is good.

It depends on the blog owner.

I have been using a website called guestblogpostingservice.com. They seem to do pretty good work. The thing about a lot of the other guest posing companies is the posts cost $120+. Those other guys' service is much less expensive.

If you area looking to do them yourself, I recommend using bloggerlinkup.com or myblogguest.com. Both of those sites have made it extremely easy to get in contact with bloggers in your niche. Hope this helps.

Make sure you check out their requirements. I get pretty frustrated when people approach me with, how to get bigger biceps on a site where I clearly state the topic has to relate to core strength.

If you actually read the blogs you are looking into, and explain how the article you prepared relates to their site and what benefits the readers will walk away with.

I also am honest when reaching out and politely ask for a turnaround if they like the article as I put the time into crafting it for them, but can shop other blogs if it takes more than a week to hear from them.

I'd say a better strategy would be to try developing some sort of relationship with the site owner before you ask for the guest post.

A few weeks before inquiring about the post, try engaging the person on twitter/facebook and start commenting on their posts.

I allow Guest Posts on a site of mine, I've made certain members designated Guest Posters, and I've taken write-ups from people to use on the site in the past. On the other hand I've also received emails asking for "paid post" that gave me the impression the person probably didn't know what my site was about.

You're going to have to contact the blog owners and they're going to have to have some idea who you are first, in my opinion, before they'l let you put some work on their site with an outbound link somewhere. I'm pretty protective of the site, which I don't think is limited to me at all, and I want good and quality work on it.

One of the things I ask for is a writing sample. I have to know if you can write well, speak the language fluently, and know the subject matter. I accept on a case by case basis and am the only administrator on my site. I make it hard to get in on purpose to filter out people who are just looking for links or want to put spam on the site.

Basically, I'm saying go to the website owner. Having 3 ready-to-go articles as mentioned above is a great start. It lets them know you've actually been to the site and know what's needed. Do your homework. If you want to get a Guest post on an influential site in your niche you're going to have to build relationships with the people in charge.

I agree with TonyB. Go to the website, leave a few insightful comments over a period of a few weeks. Complement the website owner on their page, offer a counter opinion, add a few extra points, anything to prove to the blog owner that you can add value. Then when you actually ask, you will more likely get a yes.
