Should I Bother Returning This Rude Person's Call???

Just had someone leave this message on my message bank - they weren't too polite & I'm not sure whether or not I bother returning their call?

'...how sweet, you spend all this money putting this thing on the internet and there's not even a person to talk to...'

...they listed their phone number at the beginning but didn't leave a name.

I say on my message bank that I'll return calls within 24 business hours but considering their attitude and the fact that they didn't even leave a name or what their question was I'm wondering if I'll just be wasting my time.

ie. just cop a mouthful from someone who thinks everything on the net is a scam.

What would you do?

Thanks guys

Rachel

PS I don't think he's purchased anything

    Rachel,

If he is not a customer, I wouldn't even bother... sometimes in business we have to fire the customer.

What if you do return his call?

He may make a run on the phone, picking your brain or even giving you sh$t, in return, to never buy your product.

Or he may by your product, become a support mess, and then a refund mess.

I would just hit the delete button.

Ah that sucks. I would just call them up and be as nice as you can. It was your choice to allow customers to call you, so you should of known you were not always going to get nice people ringing..

Good luck, let us know how you go and great to see another South Aussie here

I've found that a pleasant, helpful reply turns many an unhappy camper into a lifetime customer. Sometimes, the person isn't really rude, but just the frustrating circumstances have brought out their worst.

Usually, it's skepticism. When you then return their message and they see a real person taking care of them, their attitude can do a 180.

Of course, if they're still rude you have the option of hanging up.

Without knowing what the product is and the frustration that might be caused to someone trying use it, it is very difficult to suggest that you simply ignore this call.

Imagine how you would feel after being unsuccessful in making something work and, finally calling the supplier, in desperation - only to get an answerphone - would you be on your best behaviour?

Thanks for all your quick answers guys !

As most of you suggested to call him back, I did.

He hadn't purchased and just had a general query about the product...he seemed quite shocked I'd called him back. Anyway, I answered his question in 2 seconds & he actually made the effort to say thanks for calling me back!

....now it's down to the bakery for a cappucino & relax ...I was stressing a bit about it!

    Thanks again everyone!

Rachel I am so pleased that you rang him back and that it had a happy outcome.

As you said, you can now relax as it would have been gnawing away at you if you hadn't.

Enjoy that coffee and treat yourself to a sticky bun too . You deserve it.
