Keyword search data source

Hi there,

What is the best data source for keyword searching?

It's tempting to use the Google Adwords tool as it comes from Google itself, but numerous other sources such as Seo Book and whatever the Keyword Niche Finder program uses (not micro niche finder) are completely out of touch with Google results yet they are more or less consistent within themselves.

I wouldn't mind even two times a difference but for a particular keyword search I'm performing now, there are differences of more than 10x.

Most of the keyword tools will give your result that are comparable to when you use "exact" match in Google keyword tool. This is to ensure that you get a precise number for the actual searches.

  • First, don't use multiple keyword tools. Pick one and stick with it as no two tools will ever have the same exact data. That's just the nature of the beast.

I personally use Google's tool and the free WordTracker tool occasionally.
