Can you trust your VA with your site/contents?

INTERNET MARKETING

I am in the process of getting a VA to copy/ paste some contents to my WP membership site ( around 200+ posts). I cannot do the job myself as it is taking my valuable time and making me unproductive too.

This is my first time in getting a VA. I am wondering whether you can trust them with your site details and also wp logins for posting. What if they steal your contents and how to prevent that from happening?

I have also posted at Odesk and got some applications for VA. How much do you think is the best amount for a copy/paste work per hour?

Well... to answers your main question... that completely depends on you. Can YOU trust your VA?

Some people have had the same VA for years and have built a very long term relationship with them. I would suggest making a backup of the website though before giving anyone access to the files/database.

you need to consider that hiring a VA for the first few days can be time consuming maybe more then before

you need to put a check list and milestones for them and you need to coach them to do the work your way

I suggest also that you use a team management app

like teamworkpm it can help you organize your communications

It really depends on WHO you have hired. Have you hired someone from Odesk for $1.50 an hour? If so I would be more concerned that they wont do the job properly than them stealing the content. You really need to get to know the person you are trusting with your business, you cant just pawn the work off to anyone without risks.

I wouldn't dream of doing that with someone I've just employed from Odesk!

(I've just been through this, recently - it was my first time in employing a VA, but I now have two full-time ones.)

It seems to me that the bottom line is that you have to find a way (and for me that probably more or less excludes places like Odesk) of finding someone you are willing to trust with site details and passwords, if you want them actually to do anything to your own sites.

I didn't look at it that way. I looked at it in terms of finding trustworthy, reliable people with impeccable references from people whom I personally contacted and independently verified, and then finding out how much I'd have to pay them.

Even if they steal your content, you can get them out of business..

Make sure you save chat/email transcripts somewhere (with screenshots) so that you have proof that the person has really stolen your content...

I have used VA's that I trusted completely, but with most
blogging platforms, you can just set them up as a user/
member with posting authorization. That designation
differs based upon the platform that you use, but most will
let you do that.

Just give them a usename that makes them sound like
a part of your team, give them a unique password, and
your problem is solved.

Each VA is different. I have hired a lot overseas and ran into issues and have some overseas that are amazing who have worked with me for years. Still, my best staff are in the US and Canada.

$2 per hour should do the trick. That's a lot of money for many VAs.
