Is it a good idea to spend some time on building a mailing list ?

Hey Warriors !

I'm new to IM and I think about building a mailing list in the video games niche.

I will have the opportunity to work with video games websites but I wonder if I can earn money when I will have enough subscribers in my list. Can you tell me how is it possible to monetize a mailing list in this niche ? How many subscribers do I need to begin my campaign ?

Thank you very much for your advices .

What value do you plan to offer list members? Breaking news updates? Game news and cheats? Release info? Developer rumors? What hurdles do they have to go through to join your list?

It doesn't matter what the niche, you are going to have to build a list. It is a very important element of being successful in this biz. I would also suggest that you start a blog and monetize through your blog.
      Good Luck!

Yes. Building a list allows you to build a relationship with your subscribers and offer them other related products and offers.

Hi, it does not matter which niche you are working with, always build your list.
You can promote newest, most popular, evergreen games to your list. You can
even build list onto every different game what you promote.

It's always a great idea to start building a list as early as possible. But as stated above, you do kind of have to have a plan in mind as to what you're marketing emails are going to be made up of. You need to offer lots of useful free information. Did you realise that?

You need to have some sort of incentive for users to want to be on your list. Think about the lists you're subscribed to and figure out what makes you a subscriber. Then you can create your own list.

Thank you very much for the answers.

I'm a web developer and I plan to make a blog / special offers website for my subscribers. I think about buying some articles for the content.

I also have a guitar niche website where all the content is written by me and my father (a professional guitarist), I also plan to make a list for this niche.

I think the best way to monetize the gaming niche is through gaming CPA offers. They convert very well for that niche. Try sending useful info to your list consistently for example game cheats and send out a cpa offer in between but not too many to turn them off. In terms of numbers, you dont have a minimum or maximum but always try to have more numbers in your list. The bigger it is the more the possibilities. Good luck in this.

    It depends on the niche.
If you can find gaming offers then go for it.
I had a list in a computer related niche at one point and it did not work too well for me.

It's a little more than "just a good idea".

There are a few hundred threads in this forum with titles like "What's The One Thing You'd Do Differently If You Were Starting Again Tomorrow?". Take a look through a small sample of them, and you'll find that one of the things they all have in common is that they're full of replies from long-established, successful Warriors almost all of whom give the same answer: the thing they'd do differently, with what they know now but didn't know when they started, is "start to build a list on day 1". There are reasons for that.

    One.

The first person who gives you their email address needs to hear from you on that day and again on the day after (or the day after that), which is why you need to have it all automated by your autoresponder, so that all subscribers receive your outgoing email series in the correct order, according to the day on which they signed up.

My first thought is "when?" you should always be building your list - always bringing new customers into your business.

List Building is a must. It should be done from the start,Give your visitors something extremely valuable for free right from the start, it will make your list more responsive to your paid offers afterwards.

Building a mailing list/email list is an excellent idea. Start building your list and promoting offers on your very first subscriber. Doesn't matter what you offer.... if you believe that the video game niche is profitable, offer something for free on a squeeze page, get folks to optin, give them the freebie you promised them, and start your email marketing funnel. Soon folks will buy.

    Hi Fraxool,

    1. Go to Google & find the top 100 listed blogs that are receiving most traffic
    for your chosen niche

    2. Start looking for those that allow you to post comments & leave link
with your comment that points back toy our squeeze page

    3. You can then start capturing those targeted leads into your own
business & communicate with them, recommend certain games
give your opinions on upcoming launches and so on.

    4. Once you know how to get the biggest response from your
email lists you don't need to worry too much about the size of
    your list

    5. Of course you always want to keep adding fresh leads but
you won't have to worry too much about the numbers as long as
you have developed the skill of knowing how to market to your
subscribers that gets them to buy from you

    6. Find as many affiliate gaming opportunities as you can &
    recommend them to your list(s)

Look at your results to examine whether you need to tweak certain
areas & where you can improve

Hope this helps and all the best with it my friend.

    Regards
    Gavin

    Hello,

I was here about 2 years ago asking about how to improve upon my success and several members suggested I "build a list."

basically I was missing out on upselling/future sales. With my list, my earnings go up as much as 2x, 3x a few months out of the year.

If I remember correctly somebody on this forum referred to a list as a "money multiplier" and they were right!

    BUILD A LIST! LOL

Only PortlandRocks talked about niches and products, others are just saying the same ol' thing "build a list" "build a list"

Dude, spend time and money on building/researching/promoting a GREAT product first. The list building part comes later. If your product isn't selling much, you will not have a good list or maybe not even have one.

Good Product = Automated List Building

Wow! Ok, now I understand that it's really, really important to build a list ! I have a french one on the guitar niche thanks to one of my websites. But in France, it's not so easy to monetize it... Or I don't know how to.

About the video game, I can set up and make me a custom web design (with backend) in a day and it's what I will do. The problem is that I know that I can do it, I have the knowledge, and I can do something really great, I'm sure. The problem is that I have too many ideas, and it's strange but it's difficult to focus on only one :

    - I have my french guitar website which works pretty well, we have some partnerships with great guitar companies... They send us some guitars to review, and we send back the guitars to them... We are often invited to some events but that's all. We don't earn any money with it whereas we have more than 300 articles (check the size of an article for example : Fractal Audio Axe FX II, le super mega test !!!!). Maybe that I will begin a new thread here, to ask your super advices to monetize it.
    - I have the english version of this website that we are about to launch ;
    - I have a funny picture website that doesn't work very well .
    - And a game niche website that I would like to launch since I have some great contact in this niche (I personnaly know some great YouTubers with a lot of subscribers).

I'm sure that you will say to focus on just one of these websites, but I think that it's not a bad thing to try several things and then, to focus on the one which works well. What do you think ?

I would offer a newsletter where you send them regular updates in your niche (game releases, reviews, cheat code, tricks etc)

Once you start building a list, send them some CPA offers or courses (make money on world of warcraft etc)

And yes building a list is a MUST if you want a long term business.

    Cheers,

    fraxool,

Not a good idea... You must have one. Why? Because:

With your Own List you can Promote anything you want, any time you want,
as often as you want for, as long us you want with Zero Cost.

You have to spend a lot of time preparing email messages and promoting your offer to get subscribers, but as everyone already said this is necessary.

Email marketing is a system. You have to study this matter to learn how it works, and how to have positive results. Numerous details are extremely important.

I firmly believe that you should always build a list, and that
you should start as soon as possible, but that you need to
also begin by identifying a tightly focused target market, and
give a lot of thought to what value you're going to add to
    their lives.

Incentives to get them on your lists can range from interviews
with industry experts, to inexpensive pieces of software,
to cheat sheets and special reports. The incentive is going
to tell you their interests, and there is nothing wrong with
having numerous doorway into your site (and for them to
get on your lists). What you want to do there is segment
your list based upon interests... to make it easier to followup
    with them later

The video games niche is actually quite a good niche

Take a look on clickbank there are always video game products on there and they do well

It's a massive industry and the important thing is that people do spend money in this niche and lots of it because new games come out all the time

If you built a list in this niche you can sell all types of products but I think you would be far better off if you segmented your lists based on actual games they like such as call of duty, halo etc

If you could segment based on games they are interested in your conversions would go through the roof and you can then promote anything to do with the game within your emails, like clickbank products, cheats, tshirts, new games on amazon etc

And of course building a list is always a great move ;-)

Yeah building your list is probably the most important thing you can do in this business. When having a list, you can contact them anytime with promotions, sales, news updates and really anything you want at anytime. Having that personal contact to be able to reach out to your customers and interact with them at anytime is something that will make your business a viable one for the long haul. All of your marketing whether it be SEO, FB, Twitter, etc all get filtered to a landing page right. Your company site, a squeeze page, or wherever you funnel them should be capturing their contact info so you can reach out to them anytime you want. Building a list is building a relationship with your customers. And there is no better way to ensure your customers become repeat customers.

Lots of reputed and very successful warriors have said this above, and I'm going to say this again.

    Build a List.

The List is one of the foundational aspects of a real online business and in my opinion, the most valuable asset in your business.

When you have a list that you have a relationship with, by providing value, you'll start making sales, and thereby money.

In the end, I believe that, your net worth is directly proportional to the value that you have provided and the size of the audience. (ie. large value to large audience = lots of cash)

So, build up that audience with list building and email marketing.

People start with the wrong question into mind. Instead of asking themselves: how can I best serve my audience so that it grows like a snowball... they want to know how to best monetize their list/traffic, or how soon should I do it.

Is this right, is this wrong?
