Why I LOVE Well-Orchestrated Product Launches

Like most of you, I don't really care for being bombarded
with emails from dozens of marketers, for days on end, during
a major internet marketing product launch.

At the same time, I treat many of them like a good
direct response copywriter treats "junk mail."

I add a lot of stuff to my swipe files, watch what works,
and later analyzes WHY it worked. As a joint venture broker,
it's actually like "continuing education" since my clients
expect me to guide them on what's currently working best.

Anyway, I join many product launches as an affiliate, and
then I add the following to my swipe files:

- Emails sent to JV partners

- Snapshots of JV blogs

- Snapshots of the leaderboards... this tells me who is
actually capable of making sales, and who to pursue as a
JV partner

- Snapshots of the affiliate contest prizes... this tells me
what types of prizes motivate people

- The email swipe files provided by the product creator

- Emails sent out by leading marketers. I file these away,
and then AFTER it's all over, I look at the leaderboard to
see who was in the top-10, and go back and study THEIR
emails.

- The sales page over time... I'm looking at whether they
used short-form, long-form, or video, and how much the
page changed over time... as they refined their conversion
process. I actually study all aspects of the sales page
including colors, text style and size, guarantees, graphics,
placement of order links, testimonials, specific word choices,
etc.

- Payment options... for really successful launches, I want
to see if offering payment options made a difference... and
if so, which ones were most productive

- The Facebook or other page associated with the product...
I'm studying the feedback posted there.

- Up-sells, down-sells, cross-sells, continuity offered

I take snapshots using programs such as Snagit, which can
grab an entire webpages and save it as a PDF... and I go
back and study these later, as well as share some of them
with my proteges.

So, my point being, since these big product launches DO work,
and you ARE marketers, why not seize the opportunity to
study living examples. Once you start doing that, you'll never
view product launches the same again.

I love published leader boards, but they are not always available.

I try to get on the list of the people I know should be at the top of the leader boards.

When I want to promote an offer, I look to see who is at the top of the leader board, then I check my mailbox for the people at the top of the chart.

That gives me real-time information on the fly to see how I should be writing my sales copy for the particular offer.

This approach has allowed me to top many leader boards in my experience of promoting products.

There's actually way too much value in this post! But that's what makes you a good affiliate manager. Keeping on top of all of those details can be overwhelming.

I do the same thing with a lot of marketers - save all their emails. It's great for a stock of ideas. Kind of like calling 1-800 numbers for infomercials.

Just started getting on some JV lists though and seeing leader boards. You gave away a really great tip about what to do with that information though.

I also download sales videos and promotional videos. Pretty much any promo video or sales video is perfect for email follow ups. It's just like borrowing from a sales page.

It's especially good when you see someone who actually split tests their videos. Like Russell above for example. Then you know it's a good offer to promote because they care about conversion.

This is valuable advice and it's something I do on a much lower scale. I look at products similar to mine that sold really well and study their sales page (adding it to my swipe file)...I also study the affiliate emails sometimes so that I know how to structure mine. I've never thought of using Snaggit...thank you so much for that information and for the post.

There's a saying in the armed forces, "Amateurs talk about tactics, but professionals study logistics."

Willie's advice definitely falls in line with that wisdom.

I can't imagine the logistics of a huge product launch.

Still remember the one Willie did to pay for his daughters wedding. If I remember right, he did it with products that anyone could have sold. I found that kind of inspiring.
