Does the new Fiverr v2 allow you to set custom prices for your gigs?

Fiverr v2 is here, but other than the new look, it seems that nothing else has changed. The stats function has to be the only real new upgrade.

It was expected that Fiverr v2 would allow sellers to set their own prices for their gigs and this was the most anticipated upgrade. However, the price of gigs on Fiverr v2 is still fixed at $5 and cannot be changed. Or at least I can't change the price of my gigs (I am a Level 2 seller with several thousand dollars in total sales).
I would love to raise the prices of my gigs, but it's still not possible.
Am I missing something?
Can you people set custom prices for your gigs or is this all a big balloon?
Or maybe this feature is reserved for top rated sellers only?

Did people misunderstand Fiverr's announcement that gigs on the new Fiverr will be able to generate more revenue?
Did sellers erroneously misinterpret this announcement as "Sellers will be able to set custom prices for their gigs"?

So you thought that a site called Fiverr, whose USP is that everything is $5, would allow you to charge what you wanted on front end sales?

    Really?

      This was the announced news.
      Or was it?
I think people just misinterpreted it and this is actually the subject of this thread.

I saw a few threads on the Warrior Forum where people were posting happy reviews of the new Fiverr and of their new price policy.
I have no idea what new price policy those people were talking about. Gigs are still set at $5 and sellers cannot change that price.

Actually fiverr never mentioned that you can set custom gig price. BTW $5 is the main USP of fiverr, so they are unlikely to change that anyway.

But as a level 2 seller, you can add Extra to your gig up to $40, and that will enable you to make more than $5 per sale.

I just love Gig Extra feature of fiverr.

Anyway I would agree other than looks, there has been little change as far as fiverr v2 is concerned.

Agreed, it will stay at $5, it's the whole basis of their site.

And it seems to have been mainly design changes.

I also remember reading in the announcement that Fiverr v2 would allow you to charge up to $500 for a gig. It got me excited as I already make a decent amount from fiverr, but either I read it wrong or they simply changed their mind as so far there hasn't been another mention of it.

Exactly. It looks like that announcement was bogus. I guess it has been just a way to make people switch to the new interface.

But no one was made to switch over, it just switched over anyway.

        Didn't it?

How did Fiverr trick anyone and where is this announcement they made?

I'm not saying they didn't say that, I just want to see where Fiverr said they'd let you start off, not with a Fiverr. I didn't see that before the changes.

Fiverr does the thing dishonestly right, legally they are okay.
They name themselves Fiverr which directly related to 5. So if they change the price other than $5 they might lose their popularity to buyers and also lose the brand.

Its time for sellers to carry the pain of selling gigs cheaply. They should carry it out because they read the TOS and agree with it.
