Understanding the IM basics?

I have read a lot of threads and other web pages in regards to IM.
What I have found is that I'm stuck in the research mode with out taking any action.

I've been waiting for step by step type of help, but now I realize that there is no such thing.

I have several ideas but think the projects are to big to handle with no experience and not many technical skills , a full time job, and a growing family.

Does anyone have ideas of how to get trained of finding a mentor for IM??

    That's a tough one...

I suggest just taking action. You can read and learn and get mentors till you're blue in the face...or you can just start building a simple website promoting a product and learn as you go.

TheRealDudeMan gave you an excellent link to help you get started. There are a lot of different threads on this forum that give you a step by step plan for making money so spend some time searching these out. If you can afford it join the war room here, it's a gold mine of information and you may just find what you're looking for in there. Oh, and it's ridiculously cheap as well.

I guess everyone who says "learning the hard way is the only way to do it right" was right.

I just fell for all the hype when I started reading about IM a couple of years ago from guys who tried to say it was super easy and simple.

It's marketers like this that give our whole industry a bad name and why people think making money online is a scam. Internet Marketing is like any business. It takes time, taking action and the right guidance. I think people think because it's on the internet it means it will be instantaneous and easy and we all know that's not true.

Trust me I can totally relate to your pain. Trying to filter through all the threads and information on the internet can be like finding a needle in haystack. My suggestion is as you read through threads or other site, take note of any marketer that resonates with you. Follow them on their blogs or social media. You can learn a lot that way. And if you grow to really trust them, then consider buying any product they own or promote. I've rarely been steered in the wrong direction that way. Hope this helps.

Taking notes as simple as it sounds will help, thanks for the help. Is there any suggestions on marketers to follow?

Taking action is the only way to truly learn and go down the path of making money. You will lose money at first so just chalk that up as the cost of an IM education. No matter how much research you continue doing you never learn as much as when your own money is on the line.

I still think back and remember how in late 2006 I spent $800 on my first campaign and lost it all without getting one lead in return on Adwords. But a couple of months later when I found my first profitable campaign, I realized it was the best $800 I ever spent given how much I learned.

It sounds like you've researched a lot already, so it's time you take action. Just pick an offer/vertical you think you know best and jump in.

take action, start by going to fiverr and try freelancing (content writing). From there if you make an income you can build a self hosted wp blog and buy a domain and hosting.

I'd go by taking action, but if you still don't have a concrete way to start, then you need someone to hold your hand as you start a campaign / website / article writing. You'll learn a lot from those who have been there. I believe you'll get someone to help you along.

Lots of great feedback in this thread so far...

I get the part about being over whelmed and being unsure where to start. The industry is full of buzz words and things that are "hot" and "trending"

Know that it can all be simplified by remembering that you are just trying to get profitable products in front of people in a way that they are likely to buy.

Every person in this forum has taken a different path on how they do that, it's just a matter of trail, error, and guidance to finding your own path.
