Is Posting Too Much Unique Content Too Fast Bad?

I've always wondered if you can get google slapped or penalized somehow for posting too much content too quickly?

Penalized, no - provided the content is unique.
Whether this is a best practice, not so sure. Have often been told it's better to post that content a little at a time, so the search engines keep indexing and re-indexing. But in this day and age of algorithms, who really knows?
If you're looking for an official SEO type answer, I'd re-post this question in the SEO thread.
    Cheers!

Yes, terrible. That's why news organizations who publish 100's of stories daily do so poorly... /sarcsm

Google only sees your content when it crawls your site. If Google crawls Monday and sees 100 articles then crawls Friday and sees 1,000 it has no idea if the articles were published 225 a day for 4 days or if the extra 900 were all published on Thursday.

The more frequently you publish, the more frequently Google crawls your site so publishing a lot of content quickly is good.

Google will probably think you are a news organization.

Hahah nice. That's kind of what I thought. I was a little skeptical to publish tons of articles fast, makes me feel like I'm spaming for some reason.

I was just looking at John Chow's site - he's got literally thousands of blog posts and claims to have over 250,000 active daily visitors.
I think this shows that loads of great, unique content brings in loads of traffic.
It's got to be good for your search engine rankings too.
The quicker you produce your content the faster you'll see results.

    No.

That means if the content is really good and unique you will only get more traffic the more you post it.

But if that content is not good or some rehashed garbage your site is going to cover the very bottom of the results for ever.

If your content is unique and absolutely valuable content, there is no harm in posting too much content. Google bots are now smart enough to understand which contents are written for users and which contents are written only for search engines. It can measure the performance of each type of contents.

So you can definitely post as many times as you want. It's a good idea to drive traffic to your site. But you must member that if you are posting 10 articles everyday and you don't anything for 10 days after that, it is not a right choice. In that case, I would suggest you to post one article every day for 10 days. It will be a better choice.
