Finally Found The IM Magic Bullet

Like most of the people reading and posting to this forum I spent a good deal of my time in the IM arena running from one shiny object to the next looking for that ever elusive Magic Bullet that would end all of my financial woes by showing me a way to buy honest to goodness targeted traffic, get my ads seen by millions of people daily, or even run my business for me!

Well I found it, and it was right there all along!

I had it back in my brick and mortar days, and it served me well. I just kept believing all those people that told me I could ignore it and use the Homer Simpson method: Turn on the computer and tell it to "Send Me Money!"

Guess what?! Nobody did!

So I kept running from one shiny object to another, and ignored the voice in the back of my head that kept saying "Hey Moron! We still know what works!"

I am not saying that I hadn't made any money at all in this vain pursuit of the Magic Bullet, but I hadn't really Hit The Jackpot that we are all after...

At long last I started to notice that something I was doing was having a cumulative effect that I hadn't noticed before. And when I went and examined it, I found the answer that I knew all along.

You can't get it anywhere else, and nobody can sell you anything to do it for you.

It has two parts.

1. Consistently Work.
2. Repeat Whatever Achieves Good Results.

Since I realized that this formula was in fact The Magic Bullet I had searched high and low for (as the voice in my head laughed maniacally at me) I have achieved soooooo much more than I ever thought possible...

I get more articles written, posted and published.

I get more High PR Backlinks to my sites and blogs.

I get more sites, blogs and offers live.

I get more subscribers than ever before.

I get more JVs going.

And it just goes on and on. Regardless of the economic situation, the news or even the latest Google/Twitter/YouTube Slap...

Regardless of anything external to the formula, my business grows and grows.

Now I am not saying that I don't buy any Marketing Tools to automate my business because I do. But I go and find the products that I want to fill a need I have, or to learn something that I cannot learn through my Work Process, or to automate a process to free me up to Work Consistently in more areas.

So I am almost never even tempted by the latest greatest widget or Super Launch, unless it fills a need I was already aware of.

It is so liberating to know that as long as I Consistently Work at the things that have produced results that my business will continue to grow.

It's also far cheaper to walk past all those bright shiny things too...

    Good post Floyd. I see the same things happening with myself. It is very hard to stay focused on one plan of action, when you see 100 different ideas a day. I find myself "revising" my action plans almost every day trying to get it perfect.

    I Certainly agree with not chasing after every new and exciting venture. I think we're attracted to these "shiny" things because we're so desperate for something that works and so we in many cases never give our current business the amount of attention it needs to succeed.

    Of course, I think that having more than one income stream online can add up together to make you some satisfactory income.

    Floyd these observations are so accurate. Of course until someone has a knowledge base broad enough to tell a scam from a genuine tool, some money is probably going to get spent on useless tools or outright lies. I consider it part of the learning process, an investment in getting knowledgeable in order to grow the business. Yes, the shiny objects are tempting. Advice to newbies: don't be a raccoon chasing shiny objects. Pick one business model that interests you and work it until you see you either are or aren't making it profitable. There is a time lag of several months in order to see the progress. Once you are in the profit zone, rinse and repeat a few times. Then move on to business model #2. Much of the knowledge needed to be successful with model#1 will be useful in model #2.

    It is hard not to get information overload or "next great opportunity frenzy" when you first login to this site, but once ou find something good, i say stick with and slowly expand.

    Just kidding...wanted to give you a taste of your comfort zone again ;-)

    I learned this the hard way in my PPC marketing - you absolutely HAVE TO test, track, and pump up the winning campaigns. In fact, that's the entire basis of some of the popular PPC courses lately.

    Always a good reminder...and yes, I completely agree ;-)

    I've also noticed that about the PPC courses. A very hot topic these days.
    I guess with the price of most of these courses it's a foregone conclusion that the people have enough budget to spend on PPC campaigns that they won't have cash coming back in from for up to 45 days, lol...

      Totally! Been there.

      Cash flow is tough, especially with AdWords + Clickbank, for example. 2-4 week delay for affiliate checks, 1-3 weeks for Google to extract what you owe them. It's a challenge, that's for sure.

    I would slightly change what you have said above:

    1. Take action (cannot achieve anything by doing nothing)

    2. Repeat what worked (carry on getting more of the good results)

    3. Change what did not work - analyze what did not work - make changes and then put the new decisions into action (doing the same thing and expecting different results is one definition of insanity).

      Oh, yeah. Nothing worse than seeing a rise in traffic or conversions and wondering, "I wish I could remember what I changed and when I changed it..."

    I find that I have done a better job by just getting email from one or two people I am learning from. I don't spend as much time learning about a "new shiny object" that I might be temped to buy and just spend that time and more working on the plan I have made. When I am done refining this project I will go on to another one that I already know about (from my previous shiny object purchases) and stick with it until it either works or doesn't. There is so much information on the internet and I have had to limit how much I'm exposed to or I just spend all my time reading about shiny objects instead of working on my project. Loved the way you wrote about this.
